Abdirahman Siad, a retired senior IT manager and published author, is running this spring to represent southwest Madison on the city council.

He faces one opponent in Badri Lankella, who works for the state’s Department of Natural Resources.

Siad is married to the district’s current alder Nasra Wehelie, who’s stepping away from the city council after four years in elected office.

Siad tells WORT News Producer Faye Parks that he hopes to continue alder Wehelie’s legacy and give the southwest side a strong advocate in city government.
