Earlier this month, Giroux wrote an article arguing that Kirk’s assassination is “a symptom of a national political culture in crisis.” This is a crisis of democracy, culture, politics, and social responsibility.

Fusion research is advancing rapidly after a landmark study in 2022 generated more energy from a reaction than it took to create it.

Researchers are now looking for ways to commercialize fusion as an energy source, including an experiment at UW-Madison led by Dr. Stephanie Diem, an assistant professor of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics.

Also the U.S. Science Envoy for the State Department, Dr. Diem provided testimony Thursday in a congressional hearing focused on fusion’s potential to transform the energy landscape.

Dr. Diem joined our News Producer Faye Parks this afternoon to outline the latest advancements in fusion research – and explain why the federal government’s backing is crucial to continue that progress.

After weeks of dropping hints, Wisconsin’s Republican Congressman Tom Tiffany officially announced Tuesday that he’s joining the race for governor.

This expands the field in the Republican primary, though it still has half as many candidates as the Democratic field.
