You know, many skeptics claim that millions of species could never fit on the ark. Well, they’re right—but Noah didn’t have to cram millions of species onto the ark.
You see, God told Noah to take two of every kind of land-dwelling, air-breathing animal. In our modern classification system, “kind” is roughly equivalent to “family.” So Noah didn’t need two tigers, two lions, and two leopards. He only needed two of the cat kind. Noah also didn’t need to take sea creatures on the ark!
So how many animals did Noah need? Probably less than seven thousand. There was plenty of room on the ark for these animals, supplies, and for Noah’s family too.
