A progressive and a Conservative find common Ground.

Like many of you, in the wake of the Trump Presidential victory, in between fits of depression and melancholy, I've been trying to figure out what the hell happened. I came across a documentary called "The Sociopath", which came out two days before the election on November 6th. I couldn't stop watching it. It was the best chronological explanation of the various stages of Trumps rise to power and I was amazed to find out that it was produced and directed by a politically conservative guy named Ben Howe. Ben Howe is an American conservative and Senior Contributing Editor for the RedState blog which functions as a discussion forum and group blog for a variety of conservative activists.

“The Sociopath” is a crowd-funded documentary on Donald Trump. It’s a look at how we got to Trump, who he really is, and what we can expect of him. It’s brutally honest, deeply compelling, and utterly depressing, but in an irresistibly fascinating way. With the political landscape in complete disarray and our angst for the future at an all time high, I wanted to find out what common ground politically disparate people may have in the face of a future that holds a President Donald Trump, who appears doesn't value the constitution all that much. Time to step out of our bubble and find out what other intelligent people are thinking about "The Sociopath".

Today’s show was uplifting. We talked about having an “attitude of gratitude.” We had several lovely calls from listeners. We discussed how important it is at holiday gatherings to acknowledge how much we value our relationships with the people who are there. And when we do find reasons to disagree (like election results) I offered some thoughtful and kind ways to respond.

Chris George, the Executive Director of IRIS, Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services, spoke with host Valerie Richardson. IRIS, based in New Haven, works to resettle refugee families in the United States, often in concert with local church and civic organizations. They assist in finding all services for these refugee families from housing to education to jobs. Volunteer help is welcome, and you can find more information by going to irisct.org.
