A windstorm knocked the entire garage door off one of our rentals the other night. Springs, cables, the whole thing folded up on the ground.
I grabbed a bag, called my son Jack, and we drove over and fixed it. One trip. Everything we needed was already in the bag.
Jack was surprised. I wasn't. These are the same tools that have been going in that bag for 50 years. Tools I learned about from my grandfather — a mechanic, machinist, and fabricator from Oklahoma who could fix anything with what he had on hand.
This is my after-action report. 20 tools that between them can solve almost any problem you'll ever encounter. Not the most expensive tools. Not the flashiest. The ones that actually show up when it matters.
If your dad wasn't handy and nobody taught you this — this video is for you.
What's in your emergency kit? Tell me in the comments.
May God bless you and your families.

For years I thought saunas were miserable. I was wrong.
As I get deeper into clean living, whole foods, and taking care of this body God gave me, the evidence for sauna therapy keeps stacking up. So before I invest in a proper timber frame sauna, I decided to try a portable one first.
This is the Northshore six-person sauna from Duluth, Minnesota. Gifted. However Nobody paid me to say this. This is my honest first impression and setup at the WarCamp.

14 months ago I was 35 lbs overweight, depressed, and too ashamed to take my shirt off. I decided enough was enough.
Nearly 60 years old. No TRT. No gym membership. No excuses. Just a decision to stop being one of the men who gives up.
This is what happened.
In this video I'm sharing my real 14-month body transformation — the honest numbers, what I ate, how I trained, and how I built a complete home gym in my shop for a fraction of retail price. No supplements. No shortcuts. Just clean food, daily walks, and iron discipline.
What I did:
— 6 miles walking every day
— 40 minutes of weight training 5–6 days a week
— Whole foods only: ground beef, eggs, Greek yogurt, berries, olive oil
— 3 liters of water daily
— 80% compliance over 14 months
The results:
— Lost 35 lbs (210 down to 181)
— Waist from 38 inches to 32 inches
— 2 inches added to my arms
— 3 inches added to my chest
— Depression gone. Energy back. Life back.
I also picked up a complete Rogue power rack, barbell, and 260 lbs of bumper plates off Facebook Marketplace for one third of retail — and we install the whole thing in this video.
If you're a man in your 40s, 50s, or 60s who has drawn a line in the sand — this one's for you. It's not too late. It never was.
God gave us these vessels. We will give an account for how we steward them.

Buckin’ Billy Ray’s Wood Bullet - https://hoffmanblacksmithing.com/products/wood-bullet-preorder

Today we put Buckin’ Billy Ray’s famous Wood Bullet to the test against the worst Douglas fir rounds on the homestead — the pieces that completely defeated my old splitting maul and had been sitting in the pile mocking me for months.
These gnarly rounds are packed with knots, twisted grain, and everything that makes hand splitting miserable. I honestly didn’t think they would split without wedges or a hydraulic splitter.
In this video:
– testing the Wood Bullet on impossible rounds
– the “flip method” Buckin’ Billy Ray teaches
– efficient wood splitting techniques
– thoughts on simplicity, tools, and craftsmanship
– firewood moisture content explained
– woodshed updates and homestead projects
Huge thanks to Buckin’ Billy Ray and Liam Hoffman for keeping traditional toolmaking and hand-splitting culture alive.

There are some decisions in life that never stop hurting.
For years, I made the choice to go no contact with my mother. It wasn’t done out of hatred or revenge, but out of a responsibility to protect my family, my peace, and my home.
In this video, I share:
– why I made that decision
– whether I regret it
– reconnecting with her before she passed away
– the burden of protecting your children from toxic family relationships
– forgiveness, boundaries, guilt, and responsibility
This is not about airing dirty laundry or attacking the dead. It’s about telling the truth about something many people quietly struggle with but few are willing to talk about openly.
Sometimes loving someone doesn’t mean giving them unlimited access to your life.
If this topic resonates with you, you’re not alone.

Buckin’ Billy Ray sent me one of the finest axes I’ve ever held in my hands… so I knew I couldn’t send back just anything.
In this video, I set out to make something worthy of a craftsman. Something handmade. Something personal. Something that couldn’t simply be bought online.
What started as a simple exchange between two YouTubers turned into a collaboration built around respect for old-world craftsmanship, quality tools, hard work, and the disappearing skills that built this country.
If you appreciate:
– handmade goods
– heritage craftsmanship
– axes and forestry tools
– Iron Heart denim
– traditional woodworking
– bushcraft and homesteading
– Buckin’ Billy Ray
– old-school values and American work ethic
…then this one’s for you.
Big thanks to Buckin’ Billy Ray for the inspiration and for continuing to keep traditional tool knowledge alive for the next generation.
