I lost 40 pounds eating only 2 meals a day. No programs. No gimmicks. No one to pay. Here's exactly what I eat — every brand, every gram, every meal. Links to everything below.
THE SYSTEM:

Wake 4AM — black coffee, one Thorn electrolyte packet
4-5AM — time in the Word and prayer
5-6:30AM — six mile walk, every single day
6:30-7:30AM — stretching, then the Forge
7:30AM — Meal One
5PM — Meal Two
2,000 calories total. That's the whole secret.

MEAL ONE — ~1,000 calories

10oz Kirkland organic 85/15 ground beef
4 farm fresh eggs — Parmesan scramble
Avocado oil for cooking
Fleur de sel French salt
Thorn whey protein + creatine shake
Thorn electrolytes with 16oz water

MEAL TWO — ~1,000 calories

10-12oz Costco sirloin — seared then finished in oven at 300° to 125° internal
Half cup jasmine rice with olive oil and Kinder's garlic butter herb
Full fat Greek yogurt with fresh blueberries and local honey
Fleur de sel to finish

One gallon of water every single day. Non-negotiable.

I have spent 16 years preparing for everything.

This video is about the moment I caught myself spiral into preparation mania before my 8 year old daughter's first motocross race. Extra tires. Extra fuel. Every tool known to man. And it hit me — none of that is going to matter to her. What's going to matter is whether her father was actually there.
She crashed 11 times. She finished the race. And what she said at the finish line stopped me cold.
There is a version of preparedness that serves your family. And there is a version that makes you a burden to them. I had crossed that line without even knowing it.

Sweetloaf's first motocross race is officially in the books... and I think I've created a monster.This weekend we headed to Sweetloaf's first-ever motocross race. What followed was mud, crashes, determination, and one tough little girl who refused to quit.
She crashed 11 times. Her bike was covered in mud. Her wrist got twisted under the bike. But she kept getting back up and crossed the finish line.
As a father, it was one of the hardest and proudest things I've watched.

Our house was on fire. I didn't even know.
Last weekend I was heading out on a dirt bike ride with Jack and the Sweet Loaf. I forgot something in my bedroom and ran back inside. That's when I smelled smoke.
Around the corner of the house a fence post was actively burning. The mulch had been smoldering underground for nearly 24 hours — building heat completely undetected beneath the surface. If I hadn't forgotten something in my room we would have come home to a smoking crater.
That was the wake-up call.
We are four weeks ahead of normal fire season this year due to drought and low snowfall. So today I'm going through our complete urban interface fire kit — everything I keep on hand to protect this property, my neighbors, and anyone who needs help moving fast on a fire before it becomes a conflagration.

Is Gen Z cooked?
I've been thinking about this a lot. The economy. The housing market. Online dating. The hopelessness showing up in every comment section and every social media post from young men who can't see a way forward.
I don't think the answer is just work harder. That advice doesn't cut it anymore and anyone telling you that hasn't been paying attention.
But I also want to tell you what true poor looks like.
My grandfather was an Okie. In the 1930s his family had 80 acres in Oklahoma — completely self-sufficient, raised their own food, their own cattle, made their own butter. Didn't depend on anyone.
Then the Dust Bowl came and took everything.
They packed three vehicles and headed west to Idaho with nothing. Pregnant women. Little kids. Canvas wall tents in sub-zero winters. They didn't know how to log. They didn't know the Pacific Northwest. But they didn't lay down either.
I'm holding his axe right now.
This video is for the young man who is struggling. Who can't see the point. Who has been dealt a genuinely hard hand and knows it.
The best is yet to come. I believe that.
