This week I wanted to talk about “Should You Put Your Books on Sale?" Hey y'all Jacqueline Murphy here and welcome to the W lab of course I am your host with the most and we're gonna be talking about a very interesting topic today OK welcome back so today we're gonna be talking about is something that's very personal near and dear to me I remember actually publishing my book and when I started my book tour and everything like that initially just to kind of get peoples awareness it was a part of the marketing strategy I went ahead and you know how people order the books early and of course they were to get a little bit of a discount now that was just for a short period of time and after that time ended but it went back to the regular price now I'm interested to hear from you send me an email let me know what your thoughts are on this but if you have already published a book what type of feedback have you been getting from those that are purchasing the book have you ever done a pre-sale you know option will be purple to get you know order the books early Or shoot me an email Jackie Murphy [email protected] again Jackie Murphy [email protected]. OK you guys are back to what I was saying to you so I had it on pre-sale it was for less than that. Ended and now it was regular priced and what I found was that months after that I'm talking months like four months later you know the Christmas had rolled around everybody was doing all these Christmas sales and everything like that and I found people that were wanting me they didn't wanna purchase the work the book that had taken me so much sweat and tears in time that I had put into it they did not want to purchase it a full tank full price what they want it was for it to be on sale now I based on this particular individual take a little bit personally OK I don't suggest that you do but I did I'm still working on a pray for me OK and so they literally one And I was just kind a like they were like oh someone so I have their book in their book is no such and such a price and pretty much what they're saying is so and so is a lot more famous than you are any of their books can be for such and such what is your book such and such and I was just kind a like wow you'll take your money and you go out there and spend it and you won't think even just a moment to spend it on Gucci Mane you know all the big name brands and you don't sit there and tell them hey you need to be on sale no you forgot all the hundreds and thousands of dollars but a book that I'm saying to hate this book is this amount of money because everybody by the way if you don't know this when you write a book everybody wants a piece of you OK you're not gonna get 100% of whatever it is that you're selling the book for you know the shipping and handling of course you have to think about your Publish There's any sort of illustrations you had to pay for someone to do the outside cover the book and then you know the marketer I mean there's just so much that's involved the percentage that you end up with it's not really a lot but over a span of time then you know it's kind of worth it it kind of adds up so you guys tell me what you think tell me what your thoughts are tell me if I was a little too sensitive and I was taking it too close to home you know but do you believe I'm putting your work on sale and how do you feel about putting your work on sale do you feel as though you know you're putting yourself on sale when you put your work on sale?

This week I wanted to talk about “what to do after writing your first draft." Writing a book can be an emotional journey as well as an emotional roller coaster. In this conversation I share with you about one of my listeners who email to say they were depressed after pouring all their energies into a first draft. I talk about what mindset each writer needs to be in to stay positive and move towards working on other aspects of the writing, publishing and marketing journey. Having a positive mindset can positively or negatively impact the outcome of any writing project as writing any book is not exactly a cookie cutter experience. Everyone has to invest in the journey and what you put into it, positive and negative is what you will get out of it. This week I wanted to talk about,“Should you revamp your old stories or write a new one?” In this conversation I wanted to know if it was worth the effort and time to rework a story or just start a new one. One of my clients walked in with tons of notebooks and tons of ideas that was not really a full thought. He wanted to get published for years but never really had the opportunity to do so. I had to share some harsh truths with him which he was pretty open to hearing my feedback, but it made me think, "What would my listeners do if they had a similar situation?"
