We spotlighted Lakeshore Soccer, Michigan Lutheran Softball, Lake Michigan Catholic Soccer, and Benton Harbor Baseball this week...

 

 

Preston Nichols of St. Joseph High School Track is the WSJM Sports Berrien County Student Athlete of the Week for the week of April 18, 2021.

At the Allegan Invitational, Preston won the 100 Meter dash with a time of :10.71. He won the 200 Meter dash with a time of :22.38, but his prelim. time was :22, which broke a meet record and tied a St. Joe school record. He also ran a leg for the 400 Meter Relay team that broke a meet and St. Joe school record with a time of :43.17. Preston currently has the top time in the state in the 100 and 200 Meter Dashes, and the 400 Meter Relay team also has the top time in the state.

Preston is also a member of the baseball, football, and soccer teams, and National Honor Society. In the classroom, he carries a 4.12 grade point average.

Preston is the son of Shawn and Michelle Nichols.

Other finalists for the week were Grace Constable of Berrien Springs Track, Emma Lantz of New Buffalo Track, and Karly Klaer of St. Joe Track.

Jeremiah Salas of Decatur High School Track is our WSJM Sports Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week for the week of April 18, 2021.

At the Magi Madness Invitational in Colon, Jeremiah turned in three first place finishes. He won the 100 Meter Dash with a time of :11.09, the 200 Meter Dash with a time of :23.6, and the Long Jump with a mark of 18 feet 5½ inches. He also ran a leg for the second place 400 Meter Relay team.

In the classroom, Jeremiah carries a 3.22 grade point average.

Jeremiah is the son of Jay and Margret Salas of Decatur.

Other finalists for the week were Lexie Young of South Haven Softball, Nathan Palmer of South Haven Track, and Cecelia Conforti of Decatur Softball.
