April 13, 2021Luke Blesy – Berrien County Student Athlete of the WeekLuke Blesy of Bridgman High School Track is the WSJM Sports Berrien County Student Athlete of the Week for the week of March 28, 2021.In this, his senior year, Luke decided to run high school track for the first time. In his first meet, he won the 1600 Meter Run with a time of 4:50.65, he won the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:11.74, and we ran a leg for the winning 1600 Meter Relay team. His efforts helped lead the Bees to a 2nd place finish at the Bridgman Invitational.Luke is also a member of the Bridgman Cross Country and Basketball teams, National Honor Society, Key Club, and DECA. April 13, 2021Jaxon VanTilburg – Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the WeekJaxon VanTilburg of Marcellus High School Track is our WSJM Sports Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week for the week of March 28, 2021.In the first meet of the season, the Bridgman Invitational, Jaxon came away with three individual first place finishes. He won the High Jump with a mark of 6’2”, his personal best. He also won the 110 High Hurdles with a time of :17.3 and the 300 Intermediate Hurdles with a time of :46.6. He also ran a leg for the 1600 Meter Relay team.Jaxon is also a member of the Cross Country and Basketball teams. He has earned four varsity letters in Track, three in Cross Country, and two in Basketball. April 03, 2021Jessi Jewell – Berrien County Student Athlete of the WeekJessi Jewell of Michigan Lutheran High School Basketball is the WSJM Sports Berrien County Student Athlete of the Week for the week of March 21, 2021.Jessi scored 19 points in helping the Titans win the District Championship with an overtime victory over New Buffalo. She also added three assists, three rebounds, and three steals. She went 3-4 at the free throw line, including two in overtime to seal the win.Jessi is also a member of the Michigan Lutheran Power Lifting program and Student Council. Last year, she earned Honorable Mention All-State honors in basketball and Academic All-State honors.
