February 03, 2020Point O’ Woods Caddie Wins Evans ScholarshipThe Western Golf Association has awarded Megan Fairchild of St. Joseph High School an Evans Scholarship to Michigan State University. Megan is an Honor Caddy at Point O’ Woods Golf & Country Club here in Benton Harbor.Currently, a record 1,010 caddies are enrolled in 18 universities across the nation as Evans Scholars, and more than 11,050 caddies have graduated as Evans Scholars since the program was founded by famed Chicago amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans Jr. in 1930.“Megan Fairchild along with each of these deserving Evans Scholars epitomizes what our Program has been about since its creation in 1930,” said WGA Chairman Kevin Buggy. “Their dedication, hard work and sacrifice is humbling, and we are honored to be able to help them pursue their dreams.”Phil McDonald had a chance to catch up with Megan and Point O’ Woods Golf Pro Matt Flaherty to talk about the honor. February 03, 2020Bryce Schiff – Berrien County Student Athlete of the WeekBryce Schiff of LSJ Warriors Hockey is the WSJM Sports Berrien County Student Athlete of the Week for the week of January 19, 2020.In the Warriors’ games against South Bend St. Joe, Valparaiso, and Munster, Bryce turned in one goal and two assists. He also played key roles in LSJ sealing wins against Valparaiso and Munster.Bryce is a senior at St. Joe High School and hopes to pursue a conservancy degree after graduation.
