November 24, 2019Bethany Duval – Berrien County Student Athlete of the WeekBethany Duval of Brandywine High School Volleyball is the WSJM Sports Berrien County Student Athlete of the Week for the week of November 10, 2019. In the Bobcats’ Regional Semifinal win over Gobles, Bethany turned in 11 kills, four digs, two blocks, and three aces. She followed that up with 11 more kills, seven digs, and one ace in their Regional Championship match against Schoolcraft.Bethany is also an Academic All-State member of the Basketball team and is a member of the Key Club. November 24, 2019SH 200 Medley – Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the WeekThe 200 Medley Relay Team from South Haven High School Swimming is our WSJM Sports Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week for the week of November 10, 2019.Team members are Sierra Garber, Elise Postma, Ellie Frost, and Kaia Hayes. At the second shave meet at Holland, the team qualified for the state finals, in their last opportunity to do so, with a time of 1:58.71.Outside of swimming, Sierra is a member of the National Honor Society and Peer-To-Peer Group, and carries a 3.56 grade point average. Elise is a member of the National Honor Society, Band, and Robotics, and carries a 4.23 grade point average. Ellie is a member of the National Honor Society, Band, and Be Nice Program, and carries a 4.35 grade point average. In the Rams’ District Semifinal win over Allegan, she finished with 14 kills and 17 digs. In their District Championship match against Paw Paw, she turned in 13 kills and 12 digs.Ella is also a member of the South Haven Tennis team and plays club volleyball.
