Laney Mead of Lakeshore High School Softball is the WSJM Sports Berrien County Student Athlete of the Week for the week of April 28, 2019.

In the Lancers’ wins over Portage Central, Byron Center, South Bend St. Joseph, and Schoolcraft, Laney was 13-22 at the plate. She finished the week with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, ten RBIs, and eight runs scored. She also pitched 10.1 innings, allowing just seven hits and two earned runs while striking out ten.

Laney is also a member of Young Life. In the classroom, she carries a 3.02 grade point average.

Laney is the daughter of Rob and Sara Mead of St. Joseph.

Other finalists for the week were Megan Koenigshof of Coloma Softball and Victoria Smith of Watervliet Soccer.
