• Michigan State, Michigan and Central Michigan's Men's teams all start their season with wins, Eastern and Western drop openers
• Michigan goes toe to toe with women's #1 South Carolina, but falls 68-62.  #6 Notre dame blows out Mercyhurst.   Western also wins, CMU and EMU fall.
• The Pistons win back to back games and three of four with a 115-103 win over LeBron and the Lakers.  Cade Cunningham has 3rd career triple double.   Utah beats Bulls for their first win, and the Pacers beat Dallas.

Our WSJM Sports Player of the Week is Daniel Mandujano of Watervliet boys cross country.

Daniel is a senior at Watervliet High School

Daniel won the Boys Division 3 Individual Regional race at Portage Central, with a time of 16:28. He was 14 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

Earlier this season he came in 2nd place at the Berrien County Invitational with a time of 16:27.  And his 9th place finish time of 16:16 at the Portage Invitational set a new Watervliet school record for a 5,000 meter races

Daniel is also a member of the Watervliet track team, and in the classroom he carries a 4.2 Grade Point Average.

St. Joe was back at home for a first round playoff matchup against arch rival Lakeshore after an 8-1 season.  Joel Cordes and Bret Witkowski had all of the action from Steve Upton Field at Dickinson Stadium in St. Joe as you heard on News/Talk/Sports 94.9 WSJM

After a 3-6 season, Lakeshore made the playoffs and looked to make waves as the Lancers visited St. Joseph for a rematch with the Bears.  Al Pscholka and Mel Grau had the call of the game from Dickinson Stadium in St. Joe on 97.5 Y-Country
