  • WTF - w/Kevin A. Phillips - Post TBI: We Got This!
It was Albert Einstein who said, “Man must cease attributing his problems to his environment, and learn again to exercise his will – his personal responsibility.”  And that is exactly what Michael Strand, a TBI Thriver, did after enduring a brain injury sustained from being hit by a truck twenty-five years ago. Michael proclaims that “your changing sense of self after a brain injury is an opportunity to design yourself all over again.” Instead of “recovery”, Michael explains that he prefers using the term, “Post-TBI” to describe moving forward with “what you’ve got and start working toward it.”  He discovered that writing helps with his focus and along his journey as a TBI Thriver, he became an author of several books about brain injury and one of his writings titled “How I Learned to Walk” is featured in the soon-to-be-released “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Recovering From Traumatic Brain Injuries.”  Kevin is honored to have Michael as a guest speaker who will share his insights about “Post-TBI” and how he took ownership of his “recovery” to create the FUNctional “Post-TBI” LIFE he now enjoys.  Join Kevin on tonight on “WTF: Where’s The Focus” Brain Injury Radio at 7:00 pm PST and enjoy learning from another TBI Thriver as he shares his story.

  • WTF - w/Kevin A. Phillips - How to Create Your Own TEAM!
THIS WEEK: TEAM: How to Create Your Own TEAM! Together Everyone Achieves More (Miracles) is a common quote you hear when working or interacting with others to accomplish a goal or complete a 'mission'. Whether it is for work, a planning committee for an organization, a school project, or even playing sports.  We all know that being independent is often equated to being successful; however, we must recognize that we truly are interdependent on others. The key is having the right combination of TEAM players to ultimately achieve the desired results.  When going through rehabilitation after your brain injury, it was critical to have a team in place which should have included family, medical personnel, coworkers, and friends. But how many of them are on your TEAM now?  As your life constantly changes, so does your TEAM.  Join Kevin and the "Marvelous Maggie" (Kevin's 24/7 Partner and Professional Care Assistant) tonight when he shares his insights about the importance of having a TEAM and how change in the TEAM’s dynamics is actually good for you!  "Brain Injuries are inevitable, but a life w/o purpose is a choice. As TBI THRIVERS it is our duty to each other and those who have yet learned, to teach and inspire one another to BE all we can imagine. If not, WTF?" -Kevin A Phillips
