Bilal Qayyum is the President and Executive Director of the Father’s Day Rally Committee, Inc. Since 1989, FDRC’s mission is to implement grassroots, call-to-action, responsibility community campaigns in response to societal and community challenges facing African American fathers, males, and the community at-large in Philadelphia and the surrounding Delaware Valley. Mr. Qayyum also worked with the Philadelphia chapter of Reverend Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition.

He joined Dr. Peterson to discuss the life and legacy of Reverend Jesse Jackson.

Laniya Warrington is a 10 year old author of “Jamilla and the Autistic Dragon”. She wrote her first book at the age of 8, after overcoming a speech delay and intellectual disability, where she didn’t start speaking until she was 4. Her journey is an inspiring testament of resilience and determination.

She joined Dr. Peterson on Evening WURDs for Black Children's Book Week to discuss her book, "Jamilla and the Autistic Dragon".

Mariam Rashid is the Associate Director of the Racial Equity and Justice team at the Center for American Progress. Kendra Hughes is the Associate Director for Clean Energy and Conservation at the Center for American Progress. They both joined Dr. Peterson for this week's Center for American Progress segment to discuss their recently published article detailing how the Trump administration is intentionally erasing Black history.

Councilwoman Jaime Gauthier represents West and Southwest Philadelphia as the City Councilmember for the Third District, fighting for her constituents’ right to live with dignity and remain in the neighborhoods they’ve called home for decades. She is the only elected official in the City of Philadelphia with a planning degree, offering her a unique perspective on social and economic issues.

Lynn Marie Johnson is the Vice President of Philanthropy at “HumanGood”, the sixth-largest nonprofit senior living provider in the country. They operate more than 100 affordable housing communities across five states (California, Delaware, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington) with more than 9,200 residents.

For the past decade, they’ve run “Cupboards of Care”, a targeted food-access program that provides grocery gift cards to residents, allowing older adults living on fixed incomes to purchase fresh, healthy food with dignity and choice.

Lyn joins the show to further talk about the impact of HumanGood, Cupboards of Care, and to discuss why choice-based food access is critical to dignity and health.

Imam Dr. Quaiser Abdullah is the Director of the Mayor's Office of Muslim Engagement in the City of Philadelphia. He serves as the city’s first Director of Muslim Engagement and as an assistant professor at Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication. His work bridges civic leadership, interfaith dialogue, and academic inquiry on communication and identity.
