Joy D. Calloway is the president and CEO of the Black Women's Health Imperative (BWHI), the first nonprofit organization created by Black women to help protect and advance the health and wellness of Black women and girls.
BWHI released findings from the largest-ever national survey of Black women’s menopause experiences, drawing insights from more than 2,200 women nationwide. The data lay bare how silence, stigma, and limited access to care have shaped an entire generation’s health journey. The survey is part of BWHI’s Power in the Pause initiative, uniting expert voices, powerful programming, research and data, and policy reform to reshape the conversation around menopause.
Joy joins the show to discuss the Black Women’s Health Imperative's findings on Black women's experiences with menopause. Shealso talks about some common misconceptions of menopause, and social aspects that come into play with menopause.
