Lashira Council is the Executive Director of Chester Community Coalition, who lost her oldest brother to gun violence and is committed to the work it takes to combat the gun violence epidemic in the city of Chester.

Dr. Erika Dawkins is the Training Director at the Chester Community Coalition, where her biggest interest is to help those navigating loss to be able to feel supported and provide tools that they can use for years to come.

They joined Dr. Peterson to discuss the Chester Community Coalition’s services, which provides trauma-informed support to families directly affected by gun violence in Chester and Delaware County.

Pennsylvania State Representative Regina Young was elected to represent the 185th Legislative District in November of 2020, which covers parts of Philadelphia and Delaware counties, including portions of South and Southwest Philadelphia.

Representative Young is a community organizer, former educator, and founded and served as Executive Director of Empowered Community Development Corporation.

She joined Dr. Peterson to discuss what Black elected officials are doing to mobilize effective resistance against the current administration and state related news.

As the first Chief Public Safety Director for the City of Philadelphia appointed by Mayor Cherelle L. Parker, Adam Geer leads the Office of Public Safety in coordinating the City’s intergovernmental response to gun violence.

Prior to being appointed to this role, Director Geer served as the City of Philadelphia’s Deputy Inspector General for Public Safety.

He joined Dr. Peterson to discuss the city’s response to gun violence and the Office of Public Safety’s initiatives.
