The gunman was the only casualty of an active shooter situation at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield on Thursday. In the aftermath, WWJ was joined on the live line by Oakland County Exec. David Coulter who said the team at the Oakland County Emergency Operation Center has been monitoring the situation.

Detroit opened the third round of its Down Payment Assistance Program. Mayor Mary Sheffield said the initiative could help up to 450 first-time buyers with as much as $25,000 for down payments and closing costs. Detroit will be represented at the upcoming South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference in Austin, Texas — specifically, Detroit's hip-hop scene.
