 , when you combine artificial intelligence, automation, robotics and remote access capabilities, it is clearly predictable that a time will come when 80% of the ILA jobs can be replaced by remote controlled operational systems.

In China, many industrial ports are already fully automated and operated remotely by people using what look like gaming consols, robotics and computer screens.

Electric grid operators warn U.S. Supreme Court that new EPA rules will cause widespread blackouts

Organizations that manage, coordinate and monitor electricity service for 156 million Americans across 30 states are warning that the Biden-Harris administration’s power plant rule will be catastrophic for the nation’s grid. Four regional trade organizations (RTO), as they’re called, recently filed an amicus brief, also known as a friend of the court brief, in support of a multi-state lawsuit against the EPA over the rule.

The EPA released the rules in April. They require coal-fired power plants that will be operating past 2039 to begin implementing carbon-capture technologies in just eight years. New gas-fired power plants will also need to add the technologies, with those operating 40% of their annual capacity or more to add carbon capture starting in 2032.

Isaac Orr and Mitch Rolling, co-founder and researchers with Always On Energy Research, performed an analysis on behalf of the North Dakota Transmission Authority on the impacts the rules would have on the Midcontinent Independent Systems Operator (MISO), an RTO that covers a swath of the center of the U.S.

The researchers say they found a number of problems. The EPA grossly overestimated the ability of intermittent wind and solar to deliver reliable electricity during peak demand periods, according to the analysis, and it also found the agency didn’t perform any reliability analysis on the rules. The result would be blackouts lasting days in some cases.

“So they don't say things out in the open, that maybe they should,” Rolling said.

The 2019 blackouts in California, the deadly Texas blackouts in the 2021 Winter Storm Uri, and the Christmas 2022 blackouts in the Southeast, Rolling said, should have been a wakeup call for the country that there are growing risks to our electricity grid. So far, they haven’t deterred the net-zero by 2050 advocates from their agenda.

The IMF’s “Chart of the Week” just dropped, promising a glimpse into how carbon taxes can be “less regressive”, “socially fair” and “economically efficient”.

Citing a new research paper, the chart of the week comes from research findings that carbon taxes inordinately penalize the poors,

“lower-income groups are affected disproportionately, because they spend a smaller share of their expenditure on products that benefit from exemptions than their higher-income counterparts.”

 

 

The paper is called Distributional Impacts of Heterogenous Carbon Prices in the EU and looked at European countries, however, the findings around the discrepancy apply anywhere – why?

Carbon taxes aren’t uniform across all countries, and aren’t uniformly applied across all industries – and that leaves differentials and gaps that the IMF claims are being exploited by rich people to the exclusion of low income households.

The solution? A global carbon tax.

“Therefore, imposing uniform carbon prices both within and across countries would reduce carbon pricing regressivity on household expenditure in the EU”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a bill this week to ban one-pound, single-use propane cylinders, meaning that only more expensive reusable cylinders will be available in the state.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported:

Disposable propane canisters like the dark green ones used with camping stoves will soon be phased out in California, after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation Sunday requiring all one-pound cylinders sold in the state to be reusable or refillable starting in 2028.

1977 was the last time they went on strike. That was long before America became dependent on foreign imports for food and necessary goods. It’s very important to understand how critical this is given that America is now in a $36 billion dollar food trade deficit for the first time in our nation’s history. Also, the Biden-Harris administration and Congressional out of control spending has driven inflation so high that many Americans can’t afford quality of life. I think this situation is serious and could be a crisis going into the election, holidays, and winter depending if they strike and how long it lasts. Historic federal indictment against Mayor Adams claims he took $10M in illegal donations, free luxury travel, ritzy perks

Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted on charges he allegedly took $10 million in illegal campaign contributions and bribes — including free flights and ritzy perks — from foreign nationals in exchange for favors, according to a bombshell federal indictment unsealed by Manhattan prosecutors Thursday.

“In 2014, Eric Adams, the defendant, became Brooklyn Borough President. Thereafter, for nearly a decade, Adams sought and accepted improper valuable benefits, such as luxury international travel, including from wealthy foreign businesspeople and at least one Turkish government official seeking to gain influence over him,” the 57-page indictment charges.

Prior to the indictment coming down, sources had revealed the charges were likely connected to allegations the Turkish government had illegally funneled money into Adams’ mayoral campaign in exchange for approval of the Turkish consulate in Manhattan.

Foreign Automaker Lays Off Thousands of Michigan Workers after Pocketing Hundreds of Millions in Biden EV Subsidies

A multinational automaker prepared to lay off more than 2,000 American workers in August after benefiting handsomely from the Biden administration's subsidies for electric-vehicle production.

Stellantis, the parent company to famous brands like Ram and Jeep, has been awarded hundreds of millions in grants from the federal government to promote its EV manufacturing. But the Biden administration's largesse has not prevented the company from laying off American workers.

No CBDC, Says Canadian, Australian, and Colombian Central Banks 

The Human Rights Foundation’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) Tracker shows that over 1.5 billion people are living in countries where CBDCs have been rolled out. However, not all central banks appear to be on board. The central banks in Canada, Australia, and Colombia recently came out in opposition to the idea of issuing CBDCs.

In an update to its website, the Bank of Canada said it is “scaling down its work on a retail central bank digital currency and shifting its focus to broader payments system research and policy development.” Just before that, the Reserve Bank of Australia published a report that said, “There is no clear public interest case to issue retail CBDC in Australia as yet.” Finally, in July, the Banco de la República de Colombia published a report that said “there are not sufficient reasons for the issuance of [a CBDC] (retail or wholesale) in Colombia.”

To be clear, the statements made by the Canadian, Australian, and Colombian central banks are by no means binding, but these statements are a welcome change of pace, nonetheless.

Harris planning a visit to southern border this week: Source

Vice President Harris is planning to visit the southern border during her visit to Arizona on Friday, according to a source familiar.

This would be Harris' first visit to the southern border since she jumped to the top of the ticket at the end of July.

Immigration has been a big issue in the 2024 race, with Donald Trump and Republicans inaccurately calling Harris the "border czar" and blaming her for the border crisis. Harris, in turn, argues that Trump and Republicans are at fault for killing the bipartisan border bill earlier this year

Harris campaign office damaged by gunfire in Arizona

  Tempe, Arizona, police are investigating what appears to be gunfire damage overnight at a Democratic Party-coordinated campaign office for Vice President Kamala Harris.

The incident occurred just a few days before Harris is scheduled to visit Arizona as she campaigns for president.

“We can confirm that on 9/23/24, what appears to be damage from gunfire at … a DNC Campaign Office, was discovered,” said the Tempe Police Department in a statement to NBC News on Tuesday.

The office is shared by staff for the Arizona Democratic Party, the Harris campaign, and Senate and House campaigns, to boost turnout for the party in November. 

Sean McEnerney, the coordinated campaign manager for the state Democratic Party, also confirmed the incident in a statement.
