Reina Budesa is a Temple University Alumni and a future health care worker. Reina discusses her passion for her Spanish heritage and the influence that it plays in her life. Both in connecting with strangers as well as feeling separated from others. She describes her time traveling in Spain, Costa Rica, and her mother’s native country, Puerto Rico. Reina shares some of what she has learned from being raised by her mother, who struggled with substance abuse, and how it relates closely to what she sees while living in the city of Philadelphia. Especially in terms of the treatment of disadvantaged people and the current issues with health and safety in the US. Such as the massive opioid crisis.
