「Then the Lord took me as I followed the flock,And the Lord said to me,'Go, prophesy to My people Israel.'」　Amen.

　Amos was only a farmer who cultivated sycamore trees. He did not come from a family of prophets or priests, and he had never studied in a seminary. But God often makes great use of such people. Elijah, Elisha, and Moody, the great evangelist of the 19th century, were also equipped with gifts that enabled them to fulfill God's mission.

　May we be aware of the gifts that the Lord has prepared for us today.

【アモ7:15／新改訳2017】

『しかし、【主】が、群れの世話をしていたところから私を取り、【主】が私にこう言われた。『行って、わたしの民イスラエルに預言せよ』と。』

  アモスは、いちじく桑の木を栽培する一農夫でしかありませんでした。預言者や祭司の家系でもなく、神学校で学んだこともありませんでした。でも、神様は、往々にして、そんな人たちを大きく用いるのです。エリヤしかり、エリシャしかり、19世紀の大伝道者ムーディしかり、そして、その人たちは神様の使命を全うしうる賜物をも備えられていたのです。

　今日も、主が備えられた賜物に気が付くことができますように・・・。

「We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain.」　Amen.

  “History” is “His story”. “He” refers to God the Heavenly Father, Jesus the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. His story begins with creation, continues through the beginnings of mankind, and ends today. God's grace has been pouring down to us all along. The more we are willing to accept both general and special grace without being stubborn, the more of God's grace will be poured out.

May we be thankful for His grace today as well.

【Ⅱコリ6:1／新改訳2017】

『私たちは神とともに働く者として、あなたがたに勧めます。神の恵みを無駄に受けないようにしてください。』

「history」は、「his story」。彼とは、天の父なる神様、子なるイエス様。聖霊なる神様のことなのです。彼の物語は、天地創造から始まり、人類の始まり、そして、今日までの物語なので

す。神様の恵みは、その間、ずっと私たちの上に降り注がれています。一般的な恵みから特別な恵みまで、心を頑なにしないで、素直に受け入れる時に、神様の恵みはもっと注がれるのです。

　今日も、主の恵みに感謝できますように・・・。

「who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;」　Amen.　

  Suffering is unpleasant. If the suffering is our own fault, we may manage to endure it, but if we suffer because of other's fault, many people cannot bear it. I, for myself, will not be able to bear it. I will have deep resentment. But Jesus endured that suffering and saved us, even though He committed no sin.

May we ponder the cross of the Lord today.

【Ⅰペテ2:23／新改訳2017】

『ののしられても、ののしり返さず、苦しめられても、脅すことをせず、正しくさばかれる方にお任せになった。』

　苦しみは嫌なものです。その苦しみが自分の所為だったら、何とか耐えられるかもしれませんが、他人の所為で自分が苦しむかと思うと、耐えられない人が多いのではないでしょうか。私は、耐えられません。恨み骨髄となるでしょう。でも、イエス様は、何の罪も犯さなかったのに、その苦しみに耐えて、私たちを救われたのです。

　今日も、主の十字架に思いを馳せることができますように・・・。

【Ⅰペテ2:2／新改訳2017】

『生まれたばかりの乳飲み子のように、純粋な、霊の乳を慕い求めなさい。それによって成長し、救いを得るためです。』

　私たちが母親の胎内から生まれ出て、母親の乳を求め、そして成長していきます。それと同じように、イエス様を信じると霊的な誕生となるのです。生まれたばかりですから、霊的な乳が必要なのです。成長の為に、栄養の為に、大きくなる為に、純粋な霊の乳が必要なのです。それは、まさしく神様のみ言葉なのです。

　今日も、主のみ言葉に依り頼むことができますように・・・。

 「as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,」

 Amen.

　We are born out of our mother's womb, seek her milk, and grow. In the same way, when we believe in Jesus, it is a spiritual birth. Because we are newborn, we need spiritual milk. For growth, for nourishment, for enlargement, we need pure spiritual milk. It is the very Word of God.

　May we rely on the Word of the Lord today as well.

「But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.」　Amen.

  We can choose to spend our lives as slaves to sin in a world of sin, or we can choose to live eternal life under God's rule in His world. It is up to us. Eternal life is a gift from God. It is not something we have done for God or contributed to the world. It is simply God's grace.

May we count God's grace today as well.

『しかし今は、罪から解放されて神の奴隷となり、聖潔に至る実を得ています。その行き着くところは永遠のいのちです。』

　罪の世界の中で罪の奴隷として過ごすか、神の世界の中で神の支配のもとで永遠のいのちを得るか、どちらかなのです。そして、それを決めるのは、私たち自身なのです。永遠のいのちは神様からの賜物です。私たちが神様の為に何か働いたことではなく、この世に貢献したからと言って得られるものでもありません。ただただ神様の恵みなのです。

　今日も、神様の恵みを数えることができますように・・・。
