Coenraad Scheepers is a houndsman and PH in southern Africa. Hunting Zimbabwe and Mozambique, Coenraad keep his hounds in fine hunting shape to pursue Leopard for clients and science.

Coenraad joins Chris on this episode of the Houndsman XP Podcast to discuss being a Houndsmen and the intimate details fo hunting leopard. Coenraad shares first hand experience and knowledge of the cultural and financial impact the leopard has on tribal herdsmen. He discusses, in detail how trophy hunting for leopards is keeping his hounds skills keen for more than killing leopards. He spends a large amount of his time assisting biologists and scientist capture leopards to study their behavior, travel patterns and habitat. 

Coenraad also discusses the deep emotional connection he shares with his hounds. The conversation takes a dive into non verbal communication between Houndsmen and hound, and behavioral conditioning.

The Untamed is a Youtube Channel that focuses on hunting, as Josh puts it, anything with fur, feathers or skin. Being an avid frog gigger, Josh had to capture that fun too.

Due to some family circumstances, I was unfortunately not able to record with Rob while I was in Oklahoma, but I did manage to catch up with him after the fact and get his recording done later remotely. I was happy to do so, since it has been six years since he recorded his episode with my old partner Israel with Falconry Told, and he's another falconer I wanted the chance to do a follow up episode with. We talked about where he's at with falconry now, some of his experiences building drones and flying them to train his birds, a new experience flying a red-naped shaheen, and other good stuff!
