Alexander the Great had landed a fleet of ships carrying his army on Persian soil with a mission to attack and destroy the Persian Empire. This mission was in retribution for Persian aggression and brutality against his people. After the landing, Alexander gave to command to burn the boats. By doing so he made it clear; there is no retreat. The only option was forward. If his army wanted to survive they had to be successful.

In the coming weeks, we're going to be jumping around some other countries, since logistics and time have been preventing more face-to-face conversations lately. I've been getting back in touch with some of my international falconry friends, and was introduced to Cameron Coley remotely. He talks about falconry in the province where he's from in South Africa, some of the species he's gotten to fly, including his red-breasted sparrowhawk he flew for multiple seasons, getting to see some falconry in the US, and other topics. Dr. Claire Maples DVM of Paradigm Sporting Dogs joins us to talk about some practical and sensible field first aid for your hound. 

Claire is a hunter and spends many days in the field with GSPs. She grew up with coondogs and squirrel dogs. She knows and understands what our hunting dogs go through. Chris Powell and Dr Maples breakdown some common issues we face and how to address injuries. From heat exhaustion, cuts, hypoglycemia and more Dr Maples tells us how to recognize problems and give first treatment in the field.

This episode is the last episode from Oklahoma, for a little while at least. In this episode Brooke Reed joins us to talk about her short tenure in falconry thus far. Even though she's only been at it for a few years, she's been pursuing her falconry career rather tenaciously, and also already giving back in terms of helping with her state club and other things. She also talks about doing a slightly longer apprenticeship due to various circumstances, juggling falconry with an unconventional career, and other good stuff.
