Every 9 Aug, the biggest clusterfuck of patriotism happens in Singapore - the National Day Parade. With millions of dollars spent and countless weekends burnt by people of all ages, shapes and sizes, is it just a big, fat waste? Or does it actually make people feel more patriotic? Huawei has had a shitty year so far and their hot streak continues with their recent National Day phone promotion. Stocks ran out before stores even opened, causing mayhem and disappointment for thousands of people who queued up as early as 10pm the night before. Even the police had to show up with machine guns! Was it a miscalculation, is Huawei that idiotic, or was it all part of the plan? In other news, famous comedian-DJ Dennis Chew appears in an ad that takes CMIO to the next level - with him playing appearing as a Chinese, Malay, Indian AND Eurasian. And the ad’s for an e-payment solution endorsed by the SG Govt. Whyyyyyyyyy? It’s 20-freaking-19 guys.

A new content creator by the name of "Sneaky Sushii" made a (very) satirical video on the YouTube scene in SG BUT it got copyright claimed by N.O.C., one of the "big channels" referred to in the video. Why? 'Cos they got too salty? Or could there be other reasons? We didn’t dive into the drama of it (‘cos there’s enough drama online already) but we talk about what it means to create content and put it out in the world for free (and maybe get shat on). In other news about non-free stuff, James Dyson of vacuum cleaner fame recently bought a $100 million 10,000 sqft “super penthouse” in Singapore. Why? Or why NOT?
