Yeah-Uh-Huh

SNL returned for season 48 last Saturday.  Lisa,  Aaron and I thought it would be a great time to check in on the logest running live show in television history,  especially with all the cast changes,  criticisms and controversies in recent years.  I don't know how often we will do one of these,  but because of the timeliness we fast tracked it and posted the same night.  Love or hate it,  you can't deny the influence of Lorne Michaels' baby over the last 50 years.  #snl #saturdaynightlive #cecilystrong #notreadyforprimetimeplayers #johnhamm #comedy

The new Disney Plus series Andor has a hard act to follow.  Namely, 2016's "Rogue One, A Star Wars Story".  The story is a prequel to the original trilogy of movies,  which was actually fourth,  fifth and sixth installments of the franchise sequentially.  Try to follow that!  Along for the launch is our new friend Miller Carlisle Lashbrook of the Pop Culture Fae podcast.  Miller expertly brings us up to speed on the canon,  and handles not two,  but three of our world famous bios in the second half of the pod.  We love doing these!  #starwars #rogueone #andor #jynerso #darthvader #scifi

In "Head of a Gorgon" author Raegen Pietrucha tells the story of Medusa in expanded, lyrical poems that speak to serious problems in the modern world.  The collection is a tale woven to a melodic beat that begins with sadly eternal images of abuse and builds to the eventual hope of healing and recovery.   Raegen's work is a moving, powerful story that we all navigated with equal amounts of compassion,  curiosity and trepidation.  On the lighter side,  we talk about the "music" of alliteration and how the places the author has lived have influenced the imagery of her work.  Links below will take you to purchasing options,  so follow Lisa's lead and get your copy today!  #Medusa #gorgon #greekmythology #poetry #stopabuse

Ween !!!

If you know who Ween is then you know why there are three exclamation points. Their music inspired Sponge Bob Square Pants,  offended Beavis and Butthead and brought them rabidly devoted fans around the world. But do not be decieved by the Ween.  If you enjoy excellent music,  quirky lyrics, the "brown sound" and a fun back story then Ween might be the band for you.  In this installment,  we break down the band's magnum opus "The Mollusk",  an aquatic audio adventure that just might be your next favorite album!  This is the first of a series we like to call "Aaron's Audio Audibles". Take a listen to this episode and find out for yourself.  All hail Boognish! #Ween #Boognish #brownsound #TheMollusk #PantheonPodcasts #Deaner #Gener #BeavisandButthead

Music, videos, movies books... what doesn't Rocko Paolo do?  Rocko's upcoming film "The Dinner Party" has already been decorated with three esteemed Independent film awards. His music videos for "Out Drinking Whiskey" and "Mama Already Gave You Some" are linked below and the songs are featured in this hour.  His ecclectic blend of pop rock and rap come with a healthy sense of humor and urban perspective. We had a rollicking time with Rocco and we hope you will as well.  #rockopaolo #thedinnerparty #eminem #snoopdog #independentfilm #triplejointrecords

Xenia Holliday was once part of the legendary East Coast Punk scene with her Canadian all girl band "The B Girls".  In this special episode,  Ananda Xenia Shakti takes a moment to reflect on those days when she opened for Joe Strummer and the Clash on their tour in support of their historic "London Calling" punk rock classic album.  Since those days she has had a spiritual awakening,  now answering to a higher power with the name Ananda Xenia Shakti.  But the creative outpouring continues with her most recent release "No More Limits",  a single that is surging on the top UK Itunes downloads chart.  Rock junkies that we are,  it was an honor to have Ananda on our program!

The second half of this episode contains a couple of reviews from live events the hosts have attended recently.  Aaron treats us to a taste of his experiences fromt the Robert Plant/Alison Krauss show he recently attended in Socal while Lisa and I run down the night we met Weird Al Yankovic in Dayton, Ohio.  We will never be the same :).

Coren and Ren Zai opened Dreamseavers Startrax Vocal Acadamy over thirty years ago to help young singers and actors with voice and acting training.  Over the years Coren has not only trained such artists as Hazel Payne,  Billy Huffsey from the tv show Fame and Jenlee Shallow, she has carved out an impressive career as a performer.  In this extremely fun hour we talk about all of these things,  and remember her departed husband with a few of his anecdotes she continues to instill in her students today.  Coren was a fantastic guest we were happy to have in the chat lab!
