While no one can really be sure who is going to play when for as long as the coronavirus pandemic continues, UConn men's basketball does finally have a full schedule for the rest of the season.

Thirty years ago UConn enjoyed its breakthrough onto the national stage, emerging as a contender in the Big East and laying the groundwork for all of the championships that followed. That 1990 "Dream Season" team won the program's first Big East championship and eventually reached the Elite Eight, and during that run the program also enjoyed another breakthrough, opening its brand new, state of the art on-campus facility that we all know and love to this day, Gampel Pavilion.

Former UConn great Chris Smith, the program's all-time leading scorer and a member of the 1990 UConn men's basketball team, joins the show once again to talk about the first game ever played at Gampel, a thrilling 72-58 win over No. 15 ranked St. John's. He shares his memories from the day, helps break down the back-and-forth action and offers his thoughts on that year's team as well how this year's Huskies have looked through the first three games.

We made it! After nine months of waiting, wondering and hoping, the 2020-21 college basketball season has officially begun. UConn opened its new season last week with wins over Central Connecticut State University and Hartford, and this coming week the Huskies will get their first big tests against USC and NC State.

Tim Fontenault is back to help break down UConn's first two games, and also to run through each player on the roster, what their role looks like and how they have performed through two games. We also look ahead to the USC and NC State games and cover the general lay of the land within the Big East.

When UConn was last in the Big East, Seton Hall wasn't much of a factor. The Pirates had consistently been a bottom five team in the conference and were rarely a serious threat to the Huskies throughout Jim Calhoun's tenure.

Yet when UConn returns to the league this winter, the Huskies will find a much different Seton Hall program waiting for them.

As UConn returns to the Big East, the Huskies will have a chance to reignite some old rivalries that go back decades. UConn even has some history with most of the new conference rivals, having played Butler in a national title game while taking on Xavier in a double overtime thriller last winter. One team, however, is completely unfamiliar to the Huskies.

UConn and Creighton men's basketball have never played, but the brand new rivalry promises to quickly gain traction with the Bluejays entering the year as the Big East's No. 2 ranked team. Led by All-American contender Marcus Zegarowski, Creighton will be one of UConn's first big challenges in its return to the Big East, so what can fans expect when the two squads meet up for the first time?

Today Jon Nyatawa of the Omaha World Herald joins the show to talk about all things Creighton. What is the program's history? What were things like in the Missouri Valley Conference days, and how has the transition to the Big East gone? When the new Big East formed in 2013 following a wave of conference realignment, nobody was sure what to expect from the newly configured league. Before long it became obvious that one school was separating itself from the rest, and seven years later Villanova stands as the unquestioned top team in the conference.

With six regular season titles, four Big East Tournament titles and two national championships in the last seven years, Villanova has enjoyed one of the most dominant decades of any program in college basketball. Now, with UConn set to rejoin the Big East after its long exile in the American Athletic Conference, the Wildcats stand as the Huskies' biggest roadblock on the journey back to the top.

Today longtime Villanova men's basketball reporter Joe Juliano from the Philadelphia Inquirer joins the show to talk about Villanova's rise in the new Big East, how the Wildcats have become one of the nation's premier program and what UConn fans can expect this year and beyond. When UConn returns to the Big East this winter, the Huskies will reignite some of the rivalries that made life in the old Big East so much fun. But the new league also includes some new faces, and with that comes the opportunity to begin some new rivalries against quality programs with great basketball traditions of their own.

Today we welcome Captain Xavier, who is among the most prominent contributors to New Big East Twitter and who was recently featured on The Athletic as one of the nation's best college basketball Twitter accounts. Captain is a Xavier University superfan and today we talk about Xavier's program history, how it has fared since joining the Big East, what UConn fans can expect when the two teams meet this winter and our shared animosity towards the Cincinnati men's basketball program. We also touch on fellow newcomers Butler and Creighton and generally talk about how great the Big East Conference is.

That includes Providence, UConn's closest geographic rival who has always frustrated the Huskies even in years where the gap between the two programs was vast.
