  • 041.Brave Enough to Commit to Yourself

Commitment is scary. Like really scary. And it can be hard for those who struggle with perfectionism to open themselves up to a possible failure. Committing to something might mean that we fall short and that sucks.

    ----more----

But we can be brave enough to make and keep commitments to ourselves. It's not about doing things perfectly but rather about showing up. Messy and as we are, showing up is the most important thing we can do.

    ----more----

So show up for yourself. You are worth the time and effort. And no matter your past actions, or your present fear, you are capable of doing great things. Also little things consistently. ----more----

We are on a journey let’s enjoy it. Follow more @findingpawnee on Instagram.

    ----more----

And follow my good friend Richelle for tips on destressing in nature.

  • 040. Brave Enough to Let People Support you

Time for a life update. Time to practice what I preach and give people the chance to support me. It can be tough to let people in. It can be even harder to tell those people closest to you what dreams you are chasing this week. It is hard because people can be mean. But they can also be fantastic.

    ----more----

People can and will always surprise you. And it is going to be in a good way at times. But people can't support or surprise us if we never give them a chance. So let's be brave and talk about what we are doing. The dreams we're chasing, and the goals we are working toward. You are brave enough to give people the chance to cheer you on.

It is scary and if you need little bites of support and help follow me @findingpawnee on IG.

  • 036. Brave Enough to Start Again To Find More Purpose and Meaning

Has your intuition ever told you to go in a completely different direction than you are going? Have you been ignoring that little voice because you are afraid of what starting again will mean?

    ----more----

Come listen to my friend Taryn as she tells her brave story of following that little voice in a completely different direction. Life was no longer full and meaningful as a photographer. So instead of staying stuck she took all of her experience and transitioned into a life coach. Not just any coach but the coach for creative introverts starting a business, with a focus on the healing helpful power of nature.

    ----more----

We all have dreams and work hard to get them. But just because it is what we have always done doesn’t mean it is what we always have to do. And if we listen to our intuition, it will lead us to a place where we can find more purpose and meaning.

  • 035. Brave Enough to Explore the Resistance

What do you do when you hit a wall? When that inevitably happens on your way to your goals how do you react? Many of us respond in one of two ways. By pushing our way through, with brut force, or by giving up and turning around. But what if there is another option?

    ----more----

What if we change the way we think about resistance and let it be a teacher? What could we learn if we were just willing to ask some questions and do some exploring? Come and let’s explore the ways we can learn, even when we hit walls. Let’s discover a new and perhaps more helpful way of dealing with resistance.

    ----more----

Because we are all going to face resistance. We all have moments when our mind says not. But if we ask why we learn and grow. And we also have a chance to find the path through the wall in a way that allows us to continue.

  • 033. Brave Enough to Be Kind and See People

Come join us this week as we talk to a wonderful gem of a person with a lifetime of experience in being and teaching creativity. Melissa is a theatre professional and teacher who has spent the last three decades dedicated to the arts. In all the big and small ways being a voice for the arts and helping kids find a safe place to discover their voice.

    ----more----

In this episode, Melissa shares her wisdom and lessons from a life of being creative. On stage as an actor, then as a director and teacher. Then ways to help children, hers and others be creative. We get a unique perspective of a brave person working to live her best life

    ----more----

Melissa Ohlman-Roberge has been a maker for as far back as she can remember. She calls herself a “creative instigator” because for her, the process of creating - especially in collaboration with others - is often far more enriching than the product.

    ----more----

Melissa grew up in an artistic family. Her father was a writer and self-taught musician.  Her mother painted and worked in chalk pastel - primarily portraits she would cull from National Geographic and Life magazines. Her siblings, two sisters, and a brother, are also artists of various sorts - two in the music industry, one, a visual artist.

    ----more----

Melissa grew up in the small town of Cheshire, Connecticut. She studied visual art, music, and theatre throughout high school. Eventually, she gravitated toward musical theatre and earned her MFA in Directing from Florida State University. She has worked professionally as a director, musical theatre director, performer, mentor, and educator for over 30 years and has created over 100 productions.

    ----more----

She currently lives in North Carolina with her husband and two of her three daughters. As a family, they have created many productions and much art together, and Melissa wouldn’t have it any other way. Some of her fondest memories involve sitting on the floor and coloring while asking her then-young daughters questions about their day. These simple acts have filled her with the joy, wonder, and curiosity that are the hallmark of her work to this day.
