Yin: Untangled - Yin Yoga & Mysticism episodes

  • Emotions in Yin Yoga (and completing the Stress Cycle)

Why do we often experience heightened emotions when we practice Yin Yoga?

This episode offers a brief talk about how we store emotions and stress in our body and why these emotions often arise in a yin yoga practice.

A book I reference in this episode is 'Burnout: the Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle' and I honestly think it's a must-read for everyone.

  • Safety in Yin Yoga (and what we do in Yin..)

My intention with this episode was to talk about how to come into a Yin Yoga practice safely, and I do talk about that, but this is also a little bit more about what Yin Yoga is and what happens when we practice.

  • You are allowed to move in Yin Yoga.

After a conversation with another yoga teacher friend earlier this week, I decided to let you all know that you have permission to move anytime you need to when you're in your yin yoga practice. I mean, this should be obvious, but sometimes it's not. So, have a listen. If you do need to move in your practice, just move slowly and let yourself rest.

  • Yin Yoga for Anxiety 🌿

In this episode I talk a little bit about anxiety from my experience and point of view and talk about how a yin yoga practice can assist to bring you out of that overthinking place to ground you and diffuse some of that energy that usually doesn't feel very nice. I offer some yin yoga poses that I like to use to calm down and you can see my Yin Yoga Pose Library for the how-to's here.
