‘Our ideas our music our belief can be considered our offspring’
Episode 1 Neely Gibbons Wadden is Continuously Giving Birth: A Yogis Journey to Finding The Flow of Life
There we were Neely, her two kittens, bird in the other room and myself, sitting in her living room, drinking tea and talking Yoga. We sat in front of a glass window of her more than 100 year old home, a book shelf filled with stories, inspiration, and knowledge sat to the right of us. The guest seemed comfortable and content, for the first podcast interview, I thought things couldn’t get much better than this.
Flashback leading up to the interview, I was psyching myself up or more like out for my first interview for the podcast. Needless to say I was nervous and embarrassed. Thoughts of self doubt flooded my mind, ‘Will I be good enough?’ ‘Am I qualified to do this?’ ‘What do I know about Yoga?’ ‘Am I prepared enough for the interview?’ These thoughts that would freeze me in the past, freeze me to the point of not taking action. That was what was comfortable to me, filling myself up with self doubt, then I would begin to stall out drag my feet on my idea to the point that the idea would turn to dust. But not this time, l have been preparing for this. Over the past several months I have been doing some serious work to funnel and change the outcome of these self doubt thoughts. For this particular venture, I have put myself in the mindset of an adventure reporter, going out seeking story, news and being open to receive whatever came my way. The reason I can do this is because I have prepared myself. Mentally I have gotten myself to this point of trusting my gut, from a podcast host perspective, I learned my equipment and software to the point that I could host the podcast just about anywhere (sound quality would be at risk).
The most amazing thing about all of this, is that the chat I had with Neely about her story to becoming a pre-natal and post-natal Yoga instructor in the Spokane region all had to do with her setting intention, trusting in her gut and riding the flow of her life.
In this podcast, Neely takes you on her journey of how she was brought to the Yoga mat. To me if you listen to this thinking of her voice as river and her journey as multiple streams leaving the main river which then return back to it, you’ll begin to pick up on the flow her life so far.
Neely and I met sometime in April of 2018, she taught the pre-natal portion of my 200 hour Yoga teacher training at Harmony Yoga lead by the beautiful Alison Rubin. She is extremely knowledgeable about pre-natal and post natal Yoga, she teaches Yoga to individuals at multiple stages of life, teen Yoga and individuals who are going through substance abuse recovery. I quickly realized that through her teaching of Yoga she is continuously supporting her students to give birth to a new part of their self.
Neely teaches in many Yoga environments, she was first and still is a pre-natal instructor. Off the mat she uses the beautiful analogue that everything we produce is an offspring of ourselves. Meaning that we as humans are constantly giving birth. In the podcast, you’ll learn about how Neely teaches Yoga to people at different stages of life, where rebirth is occurring.
