    Publisher's Summary:
In Nocturnes, a sublime story cycle, Kazuo Ishiguro explores ideas of love, music and the passing of time. From the piazzas of Italy to the Malvern Hills, a London flat to the "hush-hush floor" of an exclusive Hollywood hotel, the characters we encounter range from young dreamers to cafe musicians to faded stars, all of them at some moment of reckoning. Gentle, intimate, and witty, this quintet is marked by a haunting them: the struggle to keep alive a sense of life's romance, even as one gets older, relationships founder and youthful hopes recede.
Read by Adam Kotz, Neil Pearson, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Ian Porter, and Trevor White.

    Beautiful stories
A series of 5 vignettes on the themes on music & relationships.
Ishiguro's writing is stunning & the narration in the audiobook is top notch. Each of the 5 stories was wonderful, I usually prefer books to short stories as I like to get involved with the characters, but there was none of that limitation with these stories.
Each story outlines a relationship which provokes a different reaction: I found the first romantic & sad, the extremely funny. There are characters to love, hate & to feel ambivalent towards.
I wish Audible stocked more of Ishiguro's books. Anyone who is familiar with "Remains of the day" (either the book or movie) knows what a fine story teller he is.
This is for anyone who enjoys fine fiction.
    Musical off notes
I love Ishiguro's work- particularly his novels and I was disappointed by these short stories the characters and central themes of which failed to really engage me. Ishiguro uses music as a foundation to the collection and perhaps not having any knowledge or ability in the musical world was a disadvatage for this listener.
    Gentle listening
A lovely collection of gentle stories, revolving around music. They tie together wonderfully, and I'll no doubt be giving this collection another listen in future.

    Publisher's Summary:
In the 1970s and thru the mid-1980s, the Chicago Outfit was the dominant organized crime family in Las Vegas, with business interests in several casinos. During those years the Outfit and its colleagues in Kansas City, Milwaukee, and Cleveland were using Sin City as a cash cow. Commonly referred to as the skim, unreported revenue from Outfit-controlled casinos was making its way out of Vegas by the bag full and ending up in the coffers of the crime bosses in those four locations.
The skim involved large amounts of money. The operation had to be properly set up and well managed to ensure a smooth cash flow. To accomplish that goal, the gangsters brought in a front man with no criminal record to purchase several casinos. Allen R. Glick, doing business as the Argent Corporation (Allen R. Glick Enterprises) purchased the Stardust, Fremont, Hacienda, and Marina. They next installed Frank Lefty Rosenthal as their inside man, and the real boss of the casino operations. Rosenthal was a Chicago native and considered to be a genius when it came to odds-making and sports betting. Under Leftys supervision the casino count rooms were accessible to mob.

The Flat Hills of My Homeland, is not quite as he might have hoped.

    Just my luck
The narrator IS Adrian Mole. So many funny moments. It never gets boring, you can blink and miss hilarious sentences.
    An adult laughing-out-loud classic
What did you love best about Adrian Mole: The Wilderness Years?
In order to understand why this book is so fantastic you need to understand that the third-book in this series is NOT on Audible. So this is actually book four.
Adrian is now no longer a teen, but aged 24. He is no longer a victim of school-abuse since he now works in Oxford. You will get all you wanted as a teen and more in this fantastic but not-safe for work or Children audiobook. All the people you have grown to love d ors appear. It is as if a veil has been lifted regarding his whole family background. It is a cheer on all us weird people, you know those who never understand you nor your talent?
This book is for: The dreamers, the wannabe's the nerds and those who dare laugh at any of this categories. This will lift you up higher than before!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Adrian Mole: The Wilderness Years?
When Adrian got a note in the end.
    Which scene was your favorite?
Adrian after an episode in Soho(London) He could have turned hysterical, but did not.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes: It has made me laugh and look at life( I wrote laugh instead of life furst, which says it all.) Very funny, yet deeper than most youth fiction.
    Any additional comments?
Be aware: R-rated language does occur.
    Still funny, but prolonged adolescence
Adrian is older, but definitely not any wiser. His powers of unintended self-sabotage are almost magical. While the book is very funny, one would expect Adrian to have matured somewhat by now. He loses his girlfriend, his job, and his apartment. And he's just getting warmed up! He could give Eeyore lessons in bad luck. But he has marvelous powers of resilience, and he gets back up and moves onward. Adrian is a man now, and eventually some of the losses he faces are more painful and lasting than the usual teenage frustrations. Also, as Adrian is considerably older, his poetry takes on a more adult tone. I was listening to this at work and started blushing!
While this was enjoyable, it just wasn't as laugh-out-loud funny as the first two books. That said, I'll still be getting the next in the series.
    Fun, but a bit disappointing
Some hilarious moments and it's nice keeping up with the characters, but the books feel gradually less funny to me as they go along. I don't normally buy books on Audible because they're often too pricey for me, and I wouldn't particularly recommend this one except to big fans of the series. Still enjoyed it and I'll probably hunt out the others for a read someday. :)

    This was a great book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What did you love best about The Great Pretender?
I couldn't stop listening. I loved all the characters, I would definitely recommend it. Hopefully there would be a part 2 and maybe 3!!!!
    Which scene was your favorite?
Favorite scene was when Reggie found out the identity of the other man
PRETTY GOOD READ - WORTH THE CHIP
I enjoyed this book very much. The narrator, as usual, does a fine job! The story was very good and I enjoyed the surprise. I have no regrets about spending a chip on this. I think that if you enjoy something that might seem a little far fetched and can keep an open mind, you will like this. I say far fetched because I'm not one to handle duel relationships. It contains a sad part to it but overall the book was quite entertaining.
A great book " enjoy every page especially
I greatly enjoyed each page each chapter God more complex and more interesting than the last wanting more and more expressing their connection between each character and the end was mind-blowing "
    The lives we live
This book was very slow paced and a little boring, but I found myself stuck at the end of the book where the great tragedy happens. The way this man played with his 2 women was ridiculous and it made me realize that some people will never understand how things affects others until they are truly affected by negative consequences. Something I learned from reading this book is that, no one ever knows anyone and don't ever trust every word that comes out of anyones mouth. From this book you see that the people who seem to have the most allegiance to you will be the ones to stab you in your back and betray you just like they betrayed Jesus. Narration was good but the story could have been a little better.

    Can't put Last Exit down
With the opening line of "Nice young ladies really shouldn't be dumping bodies at sea.", you really can't help but be pulled into the story of Hazel, a strong-willed, 20-year old who is searching for her cousin who is missing. Between the dead bodies of the guys who come after her, looking for something she doesn't have and trying to figure out who she can trust, she must protect her father. She is chased up and down the eastern coastline on a boat she captains and swerves around the corners of the New Jersey highway in a Viper. This is one cool 20-year old!
I bought this book because of the boating aspect and was immediately drawn into the suspense of it all. This is great writing!
The characters are intriguing and well-written. There is humility and humor in everyone--even the bad guys. But, with all the plot twists, it is hard to figure out who the bad guys are. This book will keep you guessing right up until the last chapter. It will capture you from page one and keep you hooked the whole way through.
This thriller is a must read that you won't be able to put down.
    Victoria Allman
author of: SEAsoned: A Chef's Journey With Her Captain
    Intriguing
Well, I like strong female leads and they don't get any stronger than this one. There are a few wildly implausible bits but by and large the continuity hangs together well for a complicated story. I don't know if this is meant to be YA but, other than the ages of some of the protagonists, there's nothing YA about it. Glad i read it.
Last Exit In New Jersey -- you won't want to leave!
Last Exit In New Jersey by C.E. Grundler is an intricately plotted thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end. I kept thinking that I knew where the plot was heading - but I didn't! I was initially intrigued by the settings since I am a Jersey girl and some of the towns and highways are familiar to me. However, it was the plot that drew me in.
Hazel Moran is a tough young woman who knows her way around boats and trucks. The book opens when Hazel and her father are dumping a body from their boat into the water. Hazel's cousin Micah is also missing, and Hazel is determined to find him - even though there are some very bad people who very clearly do not want her to do so.
The seedy underbelly of New Jersey is something that I really don't know much about (except by watching The Sopranos), but I certainly learned about it by reading this novel. Part of what makes this book different is the author's obvious vast knowledge of boats and the denizens of the boating world. It gives the book a distinctive flavor.

DO NOT GET IF YOU ARE READING ALONG WITH BOOK
This was a rip off. I thought it was going to read along with the book. After I purchased the audio book I found out I was wrong. It sounded like it was reading from the middle totally bypassing the beginning. This reading is a rip off. Do not buy this! I hope that this company refunds my money!
    Great PD James dramatization
PD James is a great writer and this BBC production is top notch. It's compelling with some good plot twists and dark characterization. It's never a happy ending with James but it's always satisfying. This is not an Adam Dalglish novel though he makes an appearance at the end. It's shorter than the novel which is perfect for drive or regular commute.
    Really Good
This was a really nice production. I enjoyed the pace and the effects. I have enjoyed Anna Massey's work before in radio plays and this is another fine performance. great story, good ending....done well. Enjoy
    good setting, interesting plot
If you could sum up An Unsuitable Job for a Woman in three words, what would they be?
A good idea, executed well. The main character is well thought out.
What was one of the most memorable moments of An Unsuitable Job for a Woman?
When the main character decides to become a detective and her first uncertain steps toward achieving that role.
    The ending - won't spoil.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
Most scenes - probably the ones which were cambridge based (as i live in cambridge)
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes definitely - as a proper crime thriller - you want to find out who did it !
    Any additional comments?
I enjoy all the books by pd james - especially those with cordelia grey - who is a most appealing heroine.

This is Judith Earle's story - her solitary childhood spent in the seclusion of her riverside house, her awkward, intense experiences at Cambridge rounded with passion and disillusionment, and her travels abroad with her elegant, socialite mother. Above all, this novel is about Judith's consuming relationship with the Fyfe family, who each fall in love with Judith, transforming her young womanhood.
    Members Reviews:
    Best for young people
    Any additional comments?
I should have liked this book much better in my teens when I might have had more patience with the main character. She really is quite tiresome (which, of course, she is not meant to be). Everything circles around herself, and only what she can't have seems important to her. She takes no real interest in others - at least not if they are "common" - with the exception of the two people she is obsessed by and perhaps in love with. In a way, you must pity Judith as well. She has been brought up by a mother who seems to be indifferent to her as a person. When Judith is deeply unhappy, all her mother can do for her is to go shopping. New outfits are the best comfort she can think of - and Judith seems to be grateful. No wonder, perhaps, that she is emotionally confused. The novel is beautifully written and Jenny Agutter's performance is excellent. I appreciate that she does not try to act, giving different voices to the characters. Some narrators do - and the result is seldom a success.
    Youth, not so golden.
I first read this novel when I was fifteen and loved it. It expressed for me so accurately the intensity and self absorption of adolescence, the agony and the ecstasy . Now , in old age , oh dear, there is little to admire in the characters. Entitled , selfish , unhappy and unkind to each other.
I still love Rosamond Lehmanns description of the garden....

Australia's most popular and entertaining story teller.
Don't look for deep and meaningful philosophical content with Robert Barrett, just vintage enjoyment Basically, the formula is 3 great sex scenes plus 3 great fight scenes set in a recognizable Oz landscape; with a story line connecting the dots.
Robert Barrett has a turn of phrase that makes me laugh out loud, which is actually a rare event. Thus, his new books always went to the very top of my reading pile, and the audios are right up there aswell.

    bouncy
This story is a good attempt at "fiction"...I'm a fan of the K's, so I thought for sure I would love this book. It bounces around a bit, and can be hard to follow at times, but it was an okay read otherwise. There was an unanswered question through the story...so I'm kind of hoping for a sequel to find out. Otherwise, it wasn't good, and it wasn't bad...for me, it was a book that I read, while inbetween books.
    Five Stars
    As described
    This book is really hilarious
This book was really inexpensive ($6 or so) and I got it shipped for free. It arrived within 2 days in a fairly good condition. I don't care what other people has to say about this book but I am really enjoying it. I have been a big fan of the kardashian sisters and wanted to know about their childhood, upbringing and all that.
The nice thing about this book is that you can read the story from the perspectives of three sisters, Kamille, Kass, and Kyle (read Kim, Kourtney and Khloe) and their mother Kat (Kris Jenner). The story line is relatively simple. I don't think there is a strong plot or anything. It is just about their lives and how they got to where they are. Btw this book is meant to entertain not to educate or make you ponder about the meaning of life. So, if you are looking for something meaningful or philosophical, read something else.
    Four Stars
I love the kardashians and this book was no different.
