Today’s dose of “Vitamin D” is dedicated to being exactly who you are. Who is that? Well, that’s not for me to answer. I will say that it’s the person you are when you feel the most free. Who you are when you’re not trying to belong. In today’s society, trying to be someone and/or something seems like the innate thing to do. Often times we give up on who we are, just so that we can be accepted. Why is that?
I’d rather have someone dislike me for who I am, rather than like me for who I’m not. It’s too much of a burden to bear to try to measure up to someone else’s standards. The truth of the matter is, you will never meet “the mark.” You can keep bending to appease others, but you’ll find in the end that it is you who will break.
In the hit song, “Try,” songstress Colbie Caillat stresses that “you don’t have to try so hard” to be who you are. Being who you are should be second nature, fluid, because it’s YOU. It’s you with the scars, your hair, your quirkiness, extra pounds…it’s ALL YOU! Why care what other people think of you? The question stands when you’re all alone…DO YOU LIKE YOU?
That's it for your dose of "Vitamin D." Be sure to follow me on all social media @DawnDaiSpeaks and until next time, always remember, "you are your greatest asset!"
