While 2017s Logan was a much more powerful and successful entry for the character, 2013s forgotten The Wolverine is rarely even mentioned. The teaser for DOFP was the highlight, and while I enjoyed the characters and action throughout- it just wasn't captivating enough, not like some other X-Men movies. However, I'd watch this over X3 and Origins.

Singer all the way! Made Superman Returns instead of X3, and while Vaughn's First Class blew us away, Bryan returned for this and 2016s Apocalypse. Still hoping we get to see his Dark Phoenix saga someday. DOFP has tons of characters but a simple conflict, not branching out to try and set up spinoffs or sequels. A beautiful and brilliant blend of the original cast and the newcomers, fresh off First Class.

I think TASM2 is one of the biggest, strongest sequels. Amazing action, great performances, and despite alot of storylines going on- it's massively entertaining. The first installment was a bit lacking but still a worthy chapter. After the massive success of No Way Home, I know fans are still wanting a third (+) installment starring Garfield.

While There and Back Again is a great title, I'm more pleased with Battle of the Five Armies. It's definitely a war film, packed with one of the best action-heavy finales in film history. The cliffhanger at the end of Desolation was very pleasing, thankfully we only had to wait a year to see the next and final chapter. I'm sure Tom Bombadil will have his own movie someday, surprised it hasn't already happened though.

Man of Steel is still a mixed bag of nuts. Audiences praise the performance of General Zod, Lois, Supes himself, pretty much perfect casting all around. If it weren't for the shaky-cam style of filming, I'd probably watch this at least every few years. Thankfully, much like JJ Abrams, Snyder abandoned the shaky-shaky after this, which delivered a more visually-pleasing BvS sequel. Listening back, eesh that intro was from the video version, I dropped that intro ages ago. This was an exciting time, as the previous Superman movie Returns was underwhelming. It, like this- had perfect casting all around, but was more of a thematic approach, rather than delivering on amazing action sequences and quote-worthy moments.

While Marvel released 4 origin movies before assembling 2012s The Avengers, DC only released this and BvS before diving into the Justice League opportunity. I think a direct sequel to this before JL would've been a smart move. There's such a great cast, more to explore, sadly it seems we'll never get another Cavill-led Superman movie. Even in this years' The Flash, they used SuperGirl and cameo'd some other versions of Supes but I didn't hear anything about Henry's.

I spotted The Mummy connection right away, was cool of the director to use actors from those movies. Retaliation was a fun, heavy, thrilling and action-packed sequel but quite a departure from the first installment. Listening back, I totes forgot about the Superman stuff- and why I included it. Just now I realized that's why I called the episode Super-Rise of Cobra!

Who knows if 2008s hilarious and heartwarming Be Kind Rewind was part of a promotion or hint for the third movie, which had been in development since the second movie that came out in 1989! I still haven't seen the two movies that have been released since this episode. Ghostbusters II didn't exactly blow audiences away, so that's also a factor as to why it took so many years to make a third installment. Would be awesome if one day we could see every version of scripts written for the third chapter.

Since this episode, there was the 2016 female-led entry, which performed poorly review-wise, and 2021's Afterlife, which seemed to shine a positive light on the franchise. I still haven't seen either but before I do I'll revisit the first two movies!

While 3 min. I now consider a "podbit" for my current podcast, I'll stick with the continuity and still call this an episode. I love The Hobbit trilogy, and had and have no problem with it being split into 3 films. Each is packed with tons of character development, tons of thrills, adventure and heartwarming moments. I mention the return of Legolas, whom I had no problem with returning. We get to learn more about the character, as he certainly displays more emotions throughout Desolation and Battle.

The extended cuts weren't underwhelming, I think we were just spoiled by all of the bonus material and scenes from the original trilogy!

DOFP is arguably not only one of the greatest X-Men movies, but greatest movies in general. Still want Wolves to show some real fighting skills! So badly wanted him to get one strike at Magneto in DOFP! The franchise is messy regarding the timeline. Different directors, different visions, multiple origin stories. I'm sure one day we'll get the ultimate Dark Phoenix saga.

I also discuss the then upcoming Deadpool movie, which is now in development of its third installment- and Hugh Jackman is back as Wolverine!

So much hype, excitement, and featuring one of the greatest misdirects in movie history that never seems to be talked about. The trailers led us to believe that Finn would become a Jedi, as he was shown dueling Kylo Ren, but when we saw the actual movie- turns out it's Rey who will take the throne! Listening back to this, I don't think anything became of the Half-Life and or Portal projects, at least not with Abrams. I was blown away by his Star Trek Into Darkness movie, so I was thrilled when I heard he was tackling Star Wars.

I'd still love to see Abrams' version of The Last Jedi. Thankfully and surprisingly- lens flares weren't an issue during battles and duels. I'm glad he abandoned the shaky-cam style of filmmaking after the first Star Trek (2009) installment.
