Let’s be honest, there’s things to do in growing or running your business, which you don’t really like.
I know for me … there’s a fair few that fit into that category.
But without doing them … your business can suffer.
So we just need to put on our big boy/girl pants (you can choose whichever tickles your fancy the most) & get on with it.
But is it that easy?
And does that not go against what I’m always banging on about … focus on understanding & using your entrepreneurial superpower?
Yes … it’s always great to do more of what comes naturally to you & plays to your talents & strengths.
But your entrepreneurial superpower isn’t an excuse for you to not do some of the things that need to be done but you just find harder.
And that’s where your Alter Ego comes in.
I never realised that I used used an alter ego (of sorts) when doing certain things, until I listened to Todd Herman’s amazing new book … The Alter Ego Effect.
I’m even more excited to be consciously crafting some new ones … that will help me & my business in different ways too.
Inside it, he shows how much of an impact it has made for himself & his clients … who happen to be professional athletes; entertainers, leaders & business owners at the top of their field.
So on today’s podcast … just for you … I decided to give you a summary of the power of unleashing your Alter Ego & some of the highlights that Todd wrote about. (Well he actually spoke them to me through countless car journeys).
Then as always, I’d love to know what your take on it is & how you’ll put it into action.
So connect with me on the world of social media to let me know.

Ever felt like you’re so busy … doing lots of ‘stuff’ but when you look at your bank balance or your results compared to your goals … you just want to cry or have a good old tantrum like my 2 year old, when he doesn’t get his way?
And then you sigh for relief when things are finally working for you … only to find that down the road, things start to unravel again or your results take a nose-dive?
I know how frustrating it can be … because it’s not like you’re sitting there & not doing anything, right?
But could it be the ‘stuff’ that you’re doing … is actually causing the problem?
Or is it more to do with the ‘stuff’ that you were doing & which was working, but for some reasons you’ve let slip … because you’ve got lots of other ‘stuff’ to do?
Perhaps it could also be down to the ‘stuff’ that you should just stop doing… because it's really not making an ounce of a difference in reality, so is just wasting your time, energy & money.
Is it making you think … which could it be for you, right now?
Well in today’s podcast episode, let’s have a chat through it more.
I’ll share with you some real life examples from my own business & also from fellow business owners, on when they’ve needed to really focus on doing more of the RIGHT ‘stuff’.
Plus I’ll bring to life a super simple yet massively powerful way for you to get your ‘stuff’ sorted today, which I personally use & share with my coaching clients too!
Enjoy listening & taking action (or stop taking action …. hmmm).

What helps you to ‘switch off’?
Because being a business owner can be all consuming - if we let it. There’s always something to do or think about, right?
Over the years I’ve tried many things to help me relax more & get out of ‘work’ mode.
But guess what really does it for me!
LEGO
I discovered this form of escapism a few years ago, whilst sprawled across the living room floor playing Lego with our eldest son Kaiyas … it was like magic!
That’s why I treated myself to the best Christmas gift ever ... the massive Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle Lego set!
And the 6020 piece masterpiece is truly epic & is now taking pride of place on our dining room table at the moment.
Lego isn’t just for kids ... honestly.
In fact, there’s 7 key things that I learnt from building this Lego set that I know can help all business owners.
You can hear about them on this week’s podcast episode & see how they help you to get out your way more.
As always, let me know what your biggest take-away is from it.

When I started my business I was really naïve.
I used to believe that once I overcame some initial set up problems (or challenges), that everything would be problem free from there.
How wrong was I!
Because I’m sure that like me (& every other business owner out there), you’ll ALWAYS have problems!
And that’s actually a good thing!
So yes, I want you to have problems in your business.
But just as long as they are better quality problems each & every time.
You can hear me bring this to life in this week’s super short podcast episode.
I’ll also share how this thinking has helped so many of my business owner clients, to get out their way & start embracing problems, instead of wishing they’d never have any going forward.
Enjoy & let me know how you get on with overcoming your current problem in your business, with this new perspective.

How would you answer the question, ‘Am I enough?’
It’s a simple yet powerful question & one that Michelle Obama asks herself a lot, whenever faced with a new challenge or opportunity.
‘I am’, is the response that would help her to then get on with taking action & getting out her way.
So what’s your answer? Are you enough?
It feels a bit bizarre not having Michelle riding along on my car journeys anymore, as I was loving hearing her she share elements of the different chapters of her life. (That’s the bummer when a good audio book comes to an end.)
It got me thinking about how everyone of us is actually living our ‘autobiography’ each & every single day.
But are you excited about the chapter that you’re currently in & writing?
There’s so much that Michelle shared that can directly apply to us as business owners & for that reason, I wanted to share some of the key nuggets from it.
Listen into the latest podcast episode, where you can hear more & truly consider the question … ‘Who am I becoming?’
I also totally love how Michelle defines the meaning of ‘success’. Listen in & see how it makes you feel too.

When I worked in the corporate world, I never saw myself as being a salesperson.
That’s because I never had any goals that were directly linked to a sales target.
Sales just kinda happened all around me, whilst I focused on being a manager of people or projects.
And to be really honest, I used to be really bored in the 2 hour meeting every Monday afternoon with all the other commercial managers when I worked in Marks & Spencer. They’d get so obsessed whilst talk through their sales figures & whether they were ahead or behind ‘plan’.
Then in my whole time of working in Lloyds TSB, I’d only ever spoken to one external customer EVER & that was only because I stupidly answered the phone of the Regional Director’s PA, who sat on the desk next to me … whilst she popped away to grab a coffee on my first day in that new role & office!
(The customer phoned to make a complaint & when I said my name … she responded … ‘Have they put me through to India?’ in an angry tone & seriously wouldn’t believe I was sitting in the London Head Office. I was so glad to see Nicola come around the corner & save me … & I vowed never to answer her phone again from that day forward!)
Yet every month, I’d still get money put into my bank account & even sometimes extra bonus money on top of that too!
So can you imagine the reality that faced me, when I decided to leave that world behind & start my own business?
Yep … the business would only be a business .. if it made sales (otherwise it’s just an expensive hobby!)
And as it only had one ‘employee’ – who was also the boss … it was down to ME to do that job … right from the start!
So how do you ace sales even if you don’t see yourself as being a salesperson?
It can be so easy to jump straight into figuring out the strategies, tactics or approach that you ‘should’ take or avoid.
But even before that … there’s something that is critical to making sales simple … your MINDSET!
This is why I totally loved having a great in-depth chat with the wonderful sale coach, Jessica Lormier … for this week’s podcast episode.
Unlike me, Jess’s corporate career was totally focused around sales & she was able to bring that experience to help her start & grow to a 7 figure business.
So tune into hear how you can get out your way to make sales easier & more fun in your business.
Plus, promise me that you’ll listen all the way to the end … because Jess shared some words of wisdom that her mum shared with her … which I’m now going to share with you … they are seriously golden!

When is a problem a problem?
Or could it in fact really be an opportunity?
It's no surprise though, when you look at things in just the same way … you end up just getting the same old thinking. In fact, it can even get your head even further up your ... problem!
But life isn’t just black & white, is it? What if you added a splash of red, black, yellow, green or blue into the mix?
Well that’s exactly what I’d love to help you do today.
Because I’m going to bring to life a super simple yet powerful tool that my old boss introduced me to, back in my corporate shirt & tie wearing days.
It’s so useful that I’ve used it loads since then & am often putting my clients through their paces with it too.
So wrap your hands around a challenge, problem or even a positive conundrum that you’ve been driving yourself crazy with & can’t get out of your mind.
You got one?
Then listen to this super short (perhaps the shortest so far) podcast, where you’ll get to sprinkle a bit of colour on the situation & magically see things in different ways. Ohh that reminds me of those cool kaleidoscope things I used to play with back in the good ole olden days ;)
Here's a little peak about what you're about to do with it ....
Enjoy tuning in & let me know how you get on by leaving a comment below or sending me an email here.

‘I’m starting with the man in the mirror.
I’m asking him to change his ways.
And no message could have been any clearer.
If you want to make the world a better place.
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change.’
I’ve heard those words sung many times by the legend that was … Michael Jackson.
But on Sunday night, whilst escaping from the bitter cold air in London, by randomly getting last minute theatre tickets to see Thriller Live … those words truly made an impact!
It echoed a lot of what just a few hours ago, I’d been chatting about with YOU, whilst recording this week’s podcast episode. (I always picture that I’m actually speaking to you when I hit ‘record’ … incase you’re sitting here scratching your head & thinking … ‘did we speak?’)
Here’s where you can tune into this week’s podcast chat … (you just need to picture in your head that we’re sitting in your favourite coffee shop together .. having a deep & meaningful chat over a skinny white Americano … cause do you know how many calories are in a caramel macchiato?!?)
Here’s a little sneaky peek of how some of that interesting conversation flowed …
Why is it so easy for us to think that we need the latest tactic or strategy, to help us grow our business? Because in fact, most of the times … what we really need to do is look much closer to home (i.e. in the mirror).
And on that … why do we something automatically think that NEW is better than OLD … (& when are those times that ‘new’ really is better?). Is it that we’re suffering from FOMO (fear of missing out), instead of embracing JOMO (joy of missing out)?
Seriously, can you honestly say that your goals are really YOUR goals? Or have they all meshed together from all the influences around you … to make you think that they’re your goals but really deep down, they’re not really?
* Told you we went deep! *
Plus, we dove into why you need to keep an eye on the actions you’re taking. Because if you’re not careful, each of those little decisions you’re making, can end up compounding together & taking further away from what you actually want … rather than closer to it.
All this sparked from what’s been a fortnight of interesting events, reflections & conversations that I’ve been having. Then ‘random’ things popping up everywhere, making me think … this needs to be talked more about ... with you & for you too!
So enjoy listening in & I’d love to hear what it sparks for you. Be sure to let me know, by dropping me an e-mail ([email protected]).

A few months back, it was a fairly typical morning in the Sharif household … classic Home Alone style.
Even though bags were packed & clothes were sorted the night before … something always seems to disappear over night.
On this particular morning, it was one of Aaron’s shoes. Shareen was running around downstairs hunting for it, whilst I doing my best to help look for it upstairs … whilst hobbling around in my crutches at the time.
As she finally found it (she got this proper superpower of finding things in places – even after I’ve looked there), as they are flying out the door in all the commotion, Kaiyas’s words catch my ear …
‘You’ve got to have a growth mindset Aaron’, as the door slams shut behind them.
Did I just hear right?
Did my 6 year old son just share some profound words of wisdom with younger little brother?
I couldn’t wait till he get back from school, so I could ask him ….’How do you know about growth mindsets’?
Well it turns out that they’ve been learning about it in his primary school & he summed it so well.
Then he flummoxed me even more by saying, ‘Is that not what you’re always talking about during your ‘people calls’?' (what he calls my coaching client sessions).
He was right … at the core of everything I do is all about helping business owners to really focus on developing a growth mindset … instead of operating from a fixed mindset.
And it makes a huge impact on EVERYTHING & I really mean EVERYTHING.
In today’s super short podcast episode, you’ll quickly get to see what way your mindset is swinging, when it comes to your beliefs; focus; effort; challenges; mistakes & feedback.
Then take what you discover & make sure that you do all you can to either move or consistently stay in that growth mindset zone.

Being totally exclusive or playing the field (a.k.a. multi-passionate) in business… which is better?
It really depends!
It’s really not for everyone, that’s for sure. That’s why I love working with my business owner clients, as they’re all different.
So what would work for one of them would be a complete disaster for another. It certainly keeps me on my toes, I can tell you!
One of my clients & great friends, Barry Nelson is definitely used to the juggling act of running 3 businesses … alongside a busy family life too.
Yesterday we jumped online & had an in-depth chat all about it. But before we did, I hit record, so you can benefit from eavesdropping into our conversation, as part of this week’s podcast episode.
It’s filled with both golden nuggets of wisdom & practical strategies, which will help you whenever you’re juggling multiple projects or commitments.
You’ll hear how Barry’s journey starting from being ‘The Garden Barber’ to what he does now, hasn’t always been smooth sailing & the role that personal development; tackling mindset blocks & taking action played.
I’m sure it will help answer the question for you … on whether being totally exclusive to one business or following a multi-passionate approach, is right for you … or not!
Enjoy listening to the banter … Barry is truly one of a kind!
