Welcome to the first episode in Season 4 of the YCS Podcast! I am so excited to introduce you to Abby Vuister from Abby Rose Bikinis, a handmade sustainable swimwear label based on the Sunshine Coast. Now if there is anyone out there who knows the sheer effort that goes into transitioning your side hustle into a full-time gig, it’s Abby. I mean let’s get real here – she used to be a dental assistant, then she worked in retail for three years whilst growing her business, and now she’s the boss lady of a hugely successful swimwear empire.
On today’s episode we talk about juggling a day job and a side hustle, taking things you’ve learned in your day job and applying them in your own business, identifying when you’re ready to make the transition, choosing whether to have a plan in place or diving straight into the transition, the process of transitioning including the money side of things and accounting, learning from mistakes, how social media can build a brand from day one, influencer strategies, Instagram advertising and if you can’t afford it what you should be focusing on to build your brand, as well as all the crazy highs and lows that come par for the course with transitioning a side hustle into your main gig.

I have the absolute pleasure of chatting with the Your Creative Start Podcast resident nutritionist Rebecca Miller from Health With Bec this week. And today’s episode is also my 30th, which blows my mind but also means we are now at the final episode of Season Three.
So today on the podcast, Bec and I talk all about stress, we also talk about how it affects your creativity, how to manage stress and what small changes you can make this week to see big results.

Create something when you can't find it yourself. That's what sisters Emma Henderson and Victoria Beattie of The Beach People did when they created their first product, the iconic roundie towel. Fast forward to today and the sisters have built a globally admired brand of luxury seaside essentials but like many other creative businesses, their success hasn't been a walk in the park. They've had to work hard, very hard, to get to where they are today and trusting their gut to make big decisions in their business has been a huge part of that journey.
So today I am excited to speak to the girls about creating something when you can find it yourself, managing the early days of a creative business, recognising the need to dream bigger, pushing yourself to grow your business, making decisions, trusting your gut in business, working with family, blending mum life and work life, and product growth.

Pursue what you love and you’ll never look back. That’s what Kati and Rory from Mast Furniture did over seven years ago and they’ve since established and created one of the most sought after furniture design brands in the world. And today on the Your Creative Start Podcast I have the pleasure of speaking with Kati about how they have learned to manage (and feel comfortable) with risks. We get really honest in this episode because there’s nothing more risky than owning your own business.
Today we talk about self-motivation, quitting your job to pursue your passion, having a plan in place, growing a business online, growth strategies for online businesses, managing financial risks, upfront costs and investing in the business, taking creative risks, putting your designs out into the world and that vulnerability feeling that comes with working for yourself.
Kati also drops so many wisdom bombs and actionable tips that my hand was actually aching from feverishly writing them down. So, strap in guys, you do not want to miss this episode.

Hey guys, you’re stuck with me for this week’s episode so I hope that’s ok! I've been wanting to do a minisode about ways to make more money since I set my goals for 2018 at the start of the year.
In my business, I have multiple revenue streams that I consistently push and rely upon to bring in the money. They are the building blocks of my business model and they each have volatility, predictability, risk and return. The advantage of being able to earn revenue from different streams means I can minimise financial risk if, say for example, I lose all my clients for some unknown reason, I at least still have the ability bring in money elsewhere.
Now this wouldn’t be a Your Creative Start Podcast episode if I didn’t provide stacks of tips, advice and wisdom bombs that you can put into action right away, so I am excited to share five quick ways you can grow your own revenue streams.
