Your Dunamas Life

So, ladies… You say you want your husband to be a real man. You want your husband to lead your household as God has called him to.   Sounds great, right? So why are so many women afraid to let their husbands be that leader?  Maybe it's the leftover attitudes of the women's lib movement that says, "I am woman.  Hear me roar!"  Maybe you're threatened by a strong man who knows his God-given direction in life.  Or maybe you're just afraid to let men be men.  In any case, the Bible actually has something to say about men and the role God has for them. Moisten this week as Dr Pauline and Catherine explore what God's Word has to say about this important subject in the books of Genesis and Romans.  This would a wonderful show to listen to with your husband.

This week, Dr Pauline and Catherine will discuss a subject that can be pretty sensitive:  Dad's roll in childbirth.  Over the past 50-60 years, the roles for dads have shifted significantly.  For most of that time, dad's roll has been to stay out of the way and let mom birth the baby.  The mentality for many families was (and sometimes still is), "Trust the doctor, do what he or she says, and everything will work out OK."  The problem with that is, it takes away the authority that God has given to dads.  Men have a very important roll in marriage, and birthing, and this week, we'll take a look at it through a Biblical lense.

Remember the 1950s & 60s?  Remember when the Bible was recognized as the perfect, inspired Word of God, when the sanctity of marriage was respected (husbands loved their wives, were the head of the household, and wives respected their husbands) and life was valued?  Fast forward to the 70s where women's liberation hit the scene and it was all about the almighty woman, and the man was the enemy.  Then the 80s, where the single mom/single dad was becoming more common.  Then the 90s...with shows like the Simpsons, and Everybody Loves Raymond hitting the airwaves, Dad became an incompetent, undependable idiot.  Today, anything goes.  What does God have to say about this?  What does it have to do with living a Dunamas Life?  Listen this week to hear Dr Pauline and Catherine offer a much-needed reality check to remind us what family is according to God's Word.

Communion is a VERY important of a Christian's life.  Listen this week as Dr Pauline & Catherine discuss the real meaning behind the bread & wine of communion.  It is symbolic of Jesus' body and blood, but it also unites us with Jesus in His death and resurrection in a very personal way.  When Jesus died on the cross, He was thinking about you and me.  When we engage in communion, we are remembering Jesus' personal sacrifice for US.  Communion is about uniting with the Creator of the universe and spending time with Him personally.  What's greater than that?  Dr Pauline & Catherine have some great insights to share this week.  Listen with the whole family.

The heart of Communion is the body and blood of Jesus.  As a Christian, Communion is a very  special time that we get to spend with Jesus reflecting on and thanking Him and His sacrifice on our behalf to give us eternal life.  With the popularity of "gluten-free", paleo, clean eating, etc, bread has become somewhat of "the enemy" (the carbs, the gluten, fill in the blank).  Believe it or not, there is a reason Jesus chose bread.  Bread was (and is) a symbol of life.  The grain used to make bread in the time of Jesus was a complete, nutritious part of the diet.  Now (figuratively, and literally), we - as a society - are running away from the bread.  Listen this week as Dr Pauline & Catherine discuss the importance of not fearing the bread.

There are a lot of things that can damage your baby in the womb.  Smoking, drinking, being in a car accident, etc.  These are all obvious things we know to avoid.  One thing has been overlooked by millions of people, yet has the potential to significantly damage your baby.  Ultrasound.  Ultrasound has never been proven to be safe for your unborn baby.  Never.  So why do so many people (moms, doctors, nurses, midwives, doulas, etc) use it as if it's no big deal?  Listen this week as Dr Pauline & Catherine tackle this extremely important and often controversial topic.

What happened to marriage in the United States?  In the 1950s, people (for the most part) got married, and stayed married.  Then the 60s came - the "ME" generation.  The focus shifted from our family's needs coming first to MY needs coming first.  Happiness became more important than...anything.  If you're not happy, you must be doing something wrong.  It's been in steady decline ever since.  So, what does God have to say about this stuff?  Plenty.  Listen this week as Dr Pauline & Catherine look to God's Word (speficially in Ephesians and Philippians) to discuss God's model for a healthy, joyful marriage.

Join Dr Pauline & Catherine this week as they discuss one of the debated "disorders" in the medical community.  ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), and the doctor that coined the phrase "ADHD", Leon Eisenberg.  It seems that our society has gone from, "run off the energy of an over-active kid" to "medicate the over-active kid".  Did you know that ADHD is more environmentally triggered (activity level, diet, parental influence, etc) than genetic?  To paraphrase Dr Eisenberg, "If, in the natural order, there is a slight genetic propensity, but there is no "trigger" in the environment, then there will be no manifistation of symptoms."  It seems like almost everyone knows someone who has been diagnosed with this "disorder".  Even Dr Pauline will talk about her experience with one of her children displaying ADHD tendencies.  This is a very important show and we encourage everyone to listen.

In the United States of America, we enjoy a lot of freedoms that other countries don't.  We have a Constitution that was written to articulate these rights.  Is it really a big deal if those rights - for instance, the 1st ammendment, 2nd ammendment, marriage (one man + one woman) - are taken away or tampered with?  What's the impact REALLY?  Are we making too big a deal over this stuff?  What does God have to say about it?  Listen this week as Dr Pauline & Catherine talk about this very important and all-too-timely subject.
