  • Snippet for # 9 Homeschooling and Rebellion Against Traditional Education
Dr Lynn has a different view about traditional education and frankly, I am beginning to doubt the efficacy of the education systems too. Although I am the product of it too, but there are of course regrets / mistakes that I could have avoided had these been exposed to me when I was in school e.g. success does not mean rushing towards the top at the expense of everything else i.e. your health, your family, your relationships etc, amongst others. Undoubtedly, many have since revised their syllabuses to include subjects on life skills but so much more needs to be done. What are your thoughts on this?

  • S1 #9 Self-Healing Journey from Scoliosis and Becoming a Chiropractor : We Really Can Heal Our Body . Honor It and Listen to It .
In this episode, we have Dr Lynn Carey who has always questioned everything that she was taught when she was a kid, but unfortunately, she never really got answers. She saw everybody was working hard on a daily basis, but they did not look happy. She thought to herself, there's gotta be more to life than that. (Exactly the question I used to ask myself) Soon when she was 14, she was diagnosed with scoliosis (curvature of the spine) and from then on, she went straight to the medical route because that's all she knew at the time. After having a spinal surgery where the doctors said they deemed it as a success, she kept getting sick and had to go back and forth to the hospital for the next 5 years. Weirdly enough, before the surgery she was never sick or had problems with her health. The doctors only knew how to prescribed her with stronger prescriptions but none worked. She was stuck in a dead end loop and depressed with her condition. She stuck through high school and went to college where somebody introduced her to chiropractic. It's like a veil has been lifted from her when she read the information on chiropractic. The philosophy grabbed her -- how the power that made the body heals the body. Nobody told her this all these years of going back and forth to medical doctors. Something about it spoke to her on a deep level. It was as if it was the first time she heard truth. She just followed her hunch and the rest was history. In this episode, we talked about : 1. How chiropractic change the trajectory of Dr Lynn's life 2. She understood how the body works and how to honor it so that it heals 3. Opening up her own practice 4. Unlearning old beliefs and relearning everything about her purpose in life 5. Financial freedom 6. Homeschooling her teenage son If you like the content of this episode and would like to connect to Dr Lynn directly, you may go to : https://www.creatingmydesiredlife.com to get her book or sign up for her Masterclass, Healthy Habits Coaching and Business Mentorship programs. • Trailer for #8 Instead of becoming a perfectionist, just be a BESTINIST
A lot of people do not get things done because they want things to be done perfectly and sometimes they just miss out on the greatest opportunities of their lives because of this behavior (I am guilty of this too). Kevo advises that being a BESTINIST should be the way forward -- giving your best i.e. your all is good enough, just like Prince, a little rough on the edges but executes his craft and arts perfectly every time he is on stage as he follows his heart. Kevo represents change, inspiration, and art. As a black man from an inner city neighborhood that was raised without his real parents, to become a renowned fine artist is a big deal. From his youth, kevo was shot, sent to jail, and had a history of drug dealing and violence. Kevo changed his life and became one of the most accomplished artists his city has ever seen. He hails from Houston, Texas and holds an MFA degree. His art ranges from painting to theater production, highlighting racial dynamics and human experiences. He is the director of a non profit for arts, Kevo Arts Studios, and teaches at a college, with over 10 years of experience as the owner of a successful tattoo studio. Additionally, he has a background in stage plays and film-making, and has written and published several books. His story was even featured on Fox 26 News in a segment called "From Inmate to Entrepreneurship," highlighting the journey from incarceration to business artistry. Kevo was proclaimed his own day from the Mayor of Houston, Kevo Day, April 6th, where he is honored for his value to the Houston community. Kevo is very much involved with his own community and is open to connecting with people wishing to learn more about his journey, his love for art or just about anything to do with how he transformed his life from a problematic child to a successful businessman and artist. If you are interested to reach out to him, be it opening up a tattoo studio, artworks, or enrolling your kids to one of his art classes, holla at him at http://artbykevo.com/

  • Trailer for #8 You are The Product of Your Own Environment
Kevo understood that he had to cut things off, cut people off, cut certain thinking pattern off to get to where he wants to be - simply because you are the product of your own environment. • Trailer for #8 Stigmas attached to black people made me re-think about who I was becoming
Street life, drugs, guns felt like life for Kevo. It felt like that's what you're supposed to do. Quoting him, "a lot of young black men today would do well to hear this that there was nothing of the side of where he was living before, that he wanted to take with him today". Kevo represents change, inspiration, and art. As a black man from an inner city neighborhood that was raised without his real parents, to become a renowned fine artist is a big deal.
