Part of my writing process is to check-in with myself. It is challenging sometimes to walk into my house with everything that I carry. It is right to pause, breathe and think about what kind of energy we are bringing into the spaces we enter. Today I pause to think about my brother on the third month of his passing. How will I honor him today?

The blank page can mean many things... it can mean excitement to begin anew... the blank page represents something about to be born. Blank pages can be frightening AF. How do we greet the blank page? Even with a migraine I will come to the blank page. It doesn't have to be brilliant our only job is to SHOW UP!

When is a story is finished? When are we done writing the book? When do we know it's done? How do we know when we are done writing a book?

My thoughts on when a story is done:

--Trust your intuition...

--When your character decides they have nothing more to say, you have gone through all of your plots, you have resolution... you have no further questions...

--Let it go...

As I think about getting to the end of my story, this essay, my book I know that it still needs...

When I complete my novel the three people I would like to read the work and whose opinion I value...

I am committed to waking up tomorrow and writing...

My intention for today...

MY INTENTION for today... you will know when you are done... today I trust my intuition, today I trust my inner voice, today I trust my writing ability, today I trust my characters.

Tonight I had my workshop in Costa Rica where I got to talk about my novel in progress. I am meditating on the significance of getting support during the writing process. Oftentimes we writers are in these worlds with just our characters and their worlds. It is amazing when we can have conversations with others. In this podcast I reflect on the significance of feeling supported and seeking our spaces such as the NYC Latina Writer's Group, Sankofa Sisterhood Writer's Retreat and the Tengo Sed Writer's Retreat.
