Zack Snyder to Remake John Carpenter’s 'Escape from New York'

StudioCanal’s previously announced modern reboot of Escape from New York has officially found its director: Zack Snyder. The divisive, visually ambitious filmmaker is set to remake John Carpenter’s 1981 dystopian sci-fi action classic. The article notes that Snyder will be bringing his signature gritty, highly stylized, slow-motion aesthetic to the story of the iconic, eye-patch-wearing antihero Snake Plissken as he navigates a maximum-security prison version of Manhattan. Casting for who will take over the legendary role from Kurt Russell has not yet been announced.
