Zion Primitive Baptist Church

by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on October 30, 2022)

In the last post, we began looking at the third of our trinity of enemies: the flesh. The flesh is always with us, and it is against us! The “carnal mind,” we are told, is in a constant state of enmity against God. Join us today as we conclude our look at the flesh, and see what we can do to resist its temptations.

As we have already seen, there is a trinity of spiritual enemies of God’s people: the devil, the world, and the flesh. Having already dealt with the devil and the world, today we begin looking at the flesh. The flesh is ever present with us, and is always a problem for us. Join us today and tomorrow as we examine the ways in which the flesh will cause us problems, and the ways in which we can combat this spiritual enemy.

Today we conclude a message begun yesterday, regarding the world as our enemy. The philosophies of this world are diametrically opposed to the Kingdom of God, and we need to be aware of them and resist them. In fact, God says “beware” of these philosophies, for they are deceitful! Join us as we conclude our look at the world as the enemy of God’s people.

In the last posted sermon, we saw that the devil is our primary enemy. We learned his tactics and discovered biblical principles on how to resist him. Today, we begin looking at a second enemy of God’s people: the world. The world is against us, and especially so since the devil is the prince of this world. But with a proper understanding of all that is in the world, and the right approach to resistance, we can also overcome the assaults of the world!

In the first sermon from this series preached back in 2022, we began to look at the wiles of the devil. We saw that he is a deceiver who slips up on us when we least expect it! Join us today for the second half of this message, as we continue examining how he attacks God’s children, and how they can resist him “in the faith.”

Back in 2022, I preached this sermon series on “Spiritual Warfare” at a time when I felt it was particularly needed. In light of recent events in our nation, it seems very appropriate to re-post this series. It is clear to me that we are in a constant state of spiritual warfare in this country! Our trinity of enemies – the world, the flesh, and the devil – are all against us, and out to destroy us. Today we will begin looking at the primary enemy of God’s people: Satan himself. Join us as we look at his tactics as he wars against God’s people in this world.

In this sermon, Elder John Morgan Owens teaches us from Scripture the truth that we must glory ONLY in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ! Join us today as we learn this important principle, which will guide us as evaluate the doctrines of the religious world. If it glorifies ONLY God, then it lines up with Scripture! If it glorifies anything else, it is false doctrine.

As we began to see yesterday, there are certain credentials that must be presented in order to enter most places and events in life. But what about when it comes to our entry into eternal heaven? What credentials must we present in order to enter into the heavenly glory? As we began to see yesterday, we cannot offer God our nationalities, our good works, our baptism, or any other thing in order to come into His presence. Our ONLY basis for being in heaven will be the credentials of the finished work of Jesus Christ. Join us today for the conclusion of this powerful sermon about being saved by grace.

A few weeks ago, Elder Luke Hagler came and preached for us here at Zion Church. In this powerful sermon, he reminded us about the need for certain credentials in order to gain entry into certain places and events. But what about our entry into heaven? On what basis will we be allowed to enter the heavenly glory? Join us today for the first half of this sermon, as Bro. Luke reminds us that our entry into heaven is based solely upon the credentials of God’s sovereign grace through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross.
