  • The Scarlett Line in the Window (Josh. 2:21)

by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on May 1, 2024)

In Joshua, we read about a little harlot in Jericho named Rahab. When the spies came into the city, she aided them, and in return they told her to bind a scarlet line in the window of her house, so that they could save her alive when they sacked the city. As we will see from the sermon today, this scarlet line is symbolic of the safety that we have in Christ.

  • Legal Concepts in the Scripture: Mediation, Part 2 (Job. 9:33)

by Elder John Morgan Owens (preached on April 7, 2024)

In the first half of this sermon, Elder John Morgan Owens began to teach us about the legal concept of “mediation.” While mediation is an essential part of modern legal practice, we see that there is no mediator among men to bring any case we might have before God. In fact, we have no case to present! But we see from Scripture that there is indeed a Mediator: the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is our Daysman! Join us as we conclude this sweet sermon on mediation today.

  • Legal Concepts in the Scripture: Mediation, Part 1 (Job 9:33)

by Elder John Morgan Owens (preached on April 7, 2024)

In this “loose series” on legal concepts found in the Scripture, Elder John Morgan Owens takes us to the concept of “mediation.” In the modern legal world, mediation is an important aspect of settling any legal case that is brought in court. But what about the legal case God has against us, for the sin that is present in the life of every child of God? The good news is that we DO have a Mediator, in the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ! Join us today as Bro. Owens begins to show us the legal concept of “mediation” in the Bible.

  • Legal Concepts in the Scripture: Justification, Part 2 (Rom. 3:20-28)

by Elder John Morgan Owens (preached on March 17, 2024)

And justification by works happens in the courtroom of mens’ opinions when we live out our faith in a righteous way in this time world. Join us today for the conclusion of this message, as we see this concept of justification rightly divided!

  • Legal Concepts in the Scripture: Justification, Part 1 (Rom. 3:20-28)

by Elder John Morgan Owens (preached on March 17, 2024)

These different types of justification do NOT contradict one another; rather, they operate in different and distinct realms. Join us today as we begin looking at this threefold concept of justification.

  • Legal Concepts in the Scripture: Veils and Testaments, Part 2 (2 Cor. 3:7-17)

by Elder John Morgan Owens (preached on March 17, 2024)

In the first half of this sermon, Elder John Morgan Owens was beginning to teach us the elements of a “last will and testament.” We were also being shown how “veils” and “testaments” were often used in the same passages in Scripture. As we conclude this sermon today, we find that each one of God’s children are the beneficiaries of eternal life through the “last will and testament” of God! And we see that God’s testament was secured by the “veil of His flesh”, which is a reference to the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ!

  • Legal Concepts in the Scripture: Veils and Testaments, Part 1 (2 Cor. 3:7-17)

by Elder John Morgan Owens (preached on March 17, 2024)

In this sermon, Elder John Morgan Owens begins a “loose series” about some legal concepts that appear in Scripture. Today, we begin looking at “testaments.” A testament is tantamount to what we would call a “last will and testament” today, and there are certain elements that universally apply to legal instruments of inheritance like these testaments. Bro. Owens lays out these elements for us, and ultimately shows us how Scripture often mentions a “veil” in the same passage as a testament. Ultimately we will see that God’s “last will and testament” leaves an inheritance for His children through the veil of flesh of Jesus Christ that was sacrificed on the cross. Join us as we begin looking at these important and related topics.
