As we approach the end of the “Hall of Faith” chapter, we find a list of some other heroes of faith from the Old Testament. Their accomplishments are summarized, but not listed specifically; nonetheless, they are examples of great faith. Moreover, we find a reference to other characters about which it is said that the “world was not worthy” of them. These great men and women of faith, who were NOT delivered from the persecutions here in a timely sense, chose faith over earthly deliverance. But nonetheless, they were delivered into the world to come! Join us as we begin looking today at the last part of Hebrews 11.

As we began to see yesterday, God inspired the writer of Hebrews to include someone in the Hall of Faith that we might not expect: Rahab the harlot. She was a very unlikely candidate for the Hall of Faith as men look at it, and yet we see a God-given faith manifested in her when the spies visited Jericho. Join us today as we conclude our look at this woman who is not only an example of great faith, but is also included in the lineage of Christ Himself.

In our study of the “Hall of Faith” in Hebrews Chapter 11, we have seen many characters that we would expect to see in such a Hall of Faith. But in today’s verse, we come to a name we would not expect to see alongside such giants of faith as Noah, Abraham, and Moses: the harlot Rahab. Rahab’s inclusion in the Hall of Faith, though, should encourage us, and remind us that every saint has a past, and every sinner who is an elect of God has a future! Join us today as we begin looking at the faith of Rahab the harlot.

Instead of panic, Moses chose faith, trusting God to deliver them in ways they themselves would never have imagined. In the verses under consideration today, we learn more about the great faith of Moses. Moses faced a wicked king with great power, but he feared the Righteous God Who has all power more! He followed God by faith when he left Egypt alone the first time, and he followed God by faith when he left Egypt with the entire host of Israel the second time. Join us as we see the faith of Moses as he faced obstacles that he could not surmount on his own.

As we began to see in the first half of this sermon, Moses had great opportunities for worldly advancement in Egypt. He was the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, and we learn through Scripture that he was learned in all the wisdom and teaching of Egypt. However, when the time came, he chose to suffer afflictions with the people of God rather than enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season. Indeed, there is pleasure in sin – but only for a season! It is short-lived, and the consequences of sin are sometimes very onerous and burdensome. Join us as we see Moses’ faith-filled walk, choosing God’s way over Egypt’s way.

Last time, we saw the faith of Moses’ parents; today, we begin examining Moses’ own faith. In today’s sermon, we look not at the faith of Moses, but the faith of his parents, who by faith saved him from Pharaoh’s murderous orders. They set the example for Moses for what his faith ought to be!
