In my second episode with Matt, real estate agent, we discuss counter culture. Counter cultures being cultures based on opposition to the mainstream, like the hippies in the 60s. We discuss how counterculture can become the mainstream and how Communism did this in some places while addressing the new problems of the industrial revolution. We then go in to discussing the aspects of counterculture in the context of the American presidential elections of the last three decades and how Trump represents counterculture. We discuss Kobain and Nirvana and his stance on commercialization, and being counter to the commercialized mainstream music scene. Then we discuss being the counterculture in specific environments, conservatives in college, PNW, and New England, or a liberal in the Marine Corps. We try to figure out what the largest counterculture of today is, and if anything is as serious as the hippies.
