Canine papillomavirus can cause small wart-like growths, most often on the lips and in the mouths of growing puppies. This virus can be spread between dogs who come in contact with infected dogs at places such as the dog park, doggy daycare, or grooming. Older dogs or dogs whose immune systems are compromised from other diseases or from medications are also at risk for developing growths from papillomvirus.
