The video game I can’t stop thinking about

子供の頃、あまりゲームをしませんでしたが、

マリオカートとぷよぷよというゲームは大好きでした。

そして最近なぜか、ぷよぷよがやりたくて仕方ないです。

でも、まだ息子にゲームをさせていないので、

こっそり携帯やiPadでできないかなあと、企んでいます😂

皆さんは、ゲームが好きですか？

こどもの ころ、あまり げーむを しませんでしたが、

まりおかーとと ぷよぷよという げーむは だいすきでした。

そして さいきん なぜか、ぷよぷよが やりたくて しかたないです。

でも、まだ むすこに げーむを させていないので、

こっそり けいたいや あいぱっどで できないかなあと、たくらんでいます。

みなさんは、げーむが すきですか？

I didn’t play video games very much when I was a child,

but I loved Mario Kart and a game called Puyo Puyo.

And for some reason, lately I’ve really been wanting

to play Puyo Puyo again.

However, I still don’t let my son play video games,

so I’ve been thinking about whether I can play it

secretly on my phone or iPad.

A gentle rainy-day gesture

今年は本当に梅雨らしい、

しとしとと雨が降る日が続いています。

梅雨には傘が欠かせませんが、この前ラジオで初めて、

「傘かしげ」という言葉を知りました。

狭い通りで、傘をさして人とすれ違うとき、

相手にぶつからないように傘を傾けることを言うそうです。

いつも無意識にやっている動作ですが、

どこか儚さを感じる、きれいな言葉だなと思いました。

ことしは ほんとうに つゆらしい、

しとしとと あめが ふる ひが つづいています。

つゆには かさが かかせませんが、このまえ らじおで はじめて、

「かさかしげ」という ことばを しりました。

せまい とおりで、かさを さして ひとと すれちがう とき、

あいてに ぶつからないように かさを かたむけることを いうそうです。

いつも むいしきに やっている どうさですが、

どこか はかなさを かんじる、きれいな ことばだなと おもいました。

This year really feels like the rainy season.

We’ve had many days of gentle, steady rain.

Umbrellas are essential during this season,

but the other day I learned a new word on the radio: kasa kashige.

It refers to the small gesture of tilting your umbrella

when passing someone on a narrow street

so that you don’t bump into them.

It’s something we do without even thinking about it,

but I thought it was a beautiful word that somehow carries

a sense of fragility and grace.

You see the real person when they are tired

「結婚したい人がいるなら、一緒にハイキングや登山に行きなさい。

疲れたときは本性が出るから。」という、

北野武さんの有名な言葉があります。

週末に、ロングウォークという映画を見ました。

莫大な賞金のために、最後の一人になるまでひたすら歩き続ける

レースの映画だったのですが、疲れたとき人に優しくできる人は、

本当に優しくて、強い人なんだなあというのがよくわかる映画でした。

「けっこんしたい ひとが いるなら、

いっしょに はいきんぐや とざんに いきなさい。

つかれた ときは ほんしょうが でるから。」という、

きたの たけしさんの ゆうめいな ことばが あります。

しゅうまつに、ろんぐうぉーくという えいがを みました。

ばくだいな しょうきんの ために、さいごの ひとりに なるまで

ひたすら あるきつづける れーすの えいがだったのですが、

つかれた とき ひとに やさしく できる ひとは、

ほんとうに やさしくて、つよい ひとなんだなあというのが

よく わかる えいがでした。

There is a famous quote by Takeshi Kitano:

“If there is someone you want to marry,

go hiking or climbing with them.

When people get tired, their true nature comes out.”

Over the weekend, I watched a movie called The Long Walk.

It was about a race in which people keep walking

until only one person remains, in order to win an enormous prize.

The movie made it very clear that people who can still be kind

to others when they are exhausted are truly kind and truly strong.

What do you usually do on weekends?

月曜日は、3行日記にチャレンジしてみましょう！

今日のテーマは、「休みの日は、いつも何をしますか？」です。

私は、よく朝9時前の映画を見に行きます。

その後お昼ご飯を食べて、銭湯に行くことが多いです。

梅雨が明けたら、もっとハイキングに出かけたいと思っています。

げつようびは、さんぎょう にっきに ちゃれんじしてみましょう！

きょうの てーまは、「やすみの ひは、いつも なにを しますか？」です。

わたしは、よく あさ くじまえの えいがを みに いきます。

そのあと おひるごはんを たべて、せんとうに いくことが おおいです。

つゆが あけたら、もっと はいきんぐに でかけたいと おもっています。

Do you have a favorite song?

皆さんは、いつもどんな曲を聞きますか？

私は、これをするときにはこの曲、という感じで

ほぼいつも同じ曲を聞いています。

例えば、私は朝近所のカフェに行って仕事をするのですが、

行く途中にいつも「虚言症」という曲を聞いています。

朝にぴったりの曲で、20年くらい同じ曲を聞いています😂

皆さんのお気に入りはありますか？

みなさんは、いつも どんな きょくを ききますか？

わたしは、これを するときには この きょく、という かんじで

ほぼ いつも おなじ きょくを きいています。

たとえば、わたしは あさ きんじょの カフェに いって しごとを するのですが、

いく とちゅうに いつも「きょげんしょう」という きょくを きいています。

あさに ぴったりの きょくで、にじゅうねん くらい

おなじ きょくを きいています。

みなさんの おきにいりは ありますか？

What kind of music do you usually listen to?

For me, it’s often like, “This song is for this activity,”

so I almost always listen to the same songs.

For example, in the morning, I go to a cafe near my house to work,

and on the way there, I always listen to a song called “Kyogensho.”

It’s perfect for the morning, and I’ve been listening to

the same song for about 20 years.

No chairs, no backrests

昨日お話した、黒牢城を見ていて気づいたのですが、

昔の人は畳に座って生活していたので、

背もたれが無い生活をしていたんだなあ、と思いました。

もたれる物が無い生活は、腰が痛くなりそうなので

意外ときついのでは、と思います。

ちなみに、日本人が家で椅子を使い始めたのは、

明治時代（1868〜）からだそうです。

きのう おはなしした こくろうじょうを みていて きづいたのですが、

むかしの ひとは たたみに すわって せいかつしていたので、

せもたれが ない せいかつを していたんだなあ、と おもいました。

もたれる ものが ない せいかつは、こしが いたく なりそうなので

いがいと きついのでは、と おもいます。

ちなみに、にほんじんが いえで いすを つかいはじめたのは、

めいじじだい（せんはっぴゃくろくじゅうはちねん〜）からだそうです。

While watching Kokurojo, which I talked about yesterday,

I realized something.

People in the past lived sitting on tatami mats,

so they must have lived without backrests.

A life without anything to lean on sounds like

it would hurt your lower back,

so I think it might have been surprisingly tough.

By the way, Japanese people apparently started

using chairs at home from the Meiji period, around 1868.

The language of samurai movies

週末に「黒牢城」という映画も見ました。

これは時代劇で、16世紀ごろの話だったのですが、

昔の言葉が難しく、慣れるのに時間がかかりました。

武士の「私」は「それがし」、女性の「私」は「わらわ」などです。

役者さんはセリフを覚えるのが大変だっただろうなあと、

映画の間ずっと思っていました。

しゅうまつに「こくろうじょう」という えいがも みました。

これは じだいげきで、16せいきごろの はなしだったのですが、

むかしの ことばが むずかしく、なれるのに じかんが かかりました。

ぶしの「わたし」は「それがし」、じょせいの「わたし」は「わらわ」などです。

やくしゃさんは せりふを おぼえるのが たいへんだっただろうなあと

えいがの あいだ ずっと おもっていました。

I also watched a movie called Kokuroujou last weekend.

It was a historical film set around the 16th century.

And the old-fashioned language was difficult,

so it took me a while to get used to it.

For example, a samurai’s “I” was “soregashi,”

and a woman’s “I” was “warawa.”

Throughout the movie, I kept thinking,

“It must have been so hard for the actors to memorize these lines.”

Toy Story 5

週末に、息子とトイストーリー5を見てきました。

私は、1をちゃんと見たことがあったかなあ、

というレベルだったのですが、とても面白くて、感動する映画でした。

子供に使われなくなったおもちゃ達の悲しい気持ちが、

物語の軸になっていると思うのですが、ただ悲しいだけで終わらず、

おもちゃの存在意義を表す感動的なセリフがあって、

（ネタバレになりそうなので、言わないでおきます）

さすが人気作品だなあと思いました。

しゅうまつに、むすこと といすとーリーふぁいぶを みてきました。

わたしは、わんを ちゃんと みたことが あったかなあ、

という れべるだったのですが、とても おもしろくて、

かんどうする えいがでした。

こどもに つかわれなくなった おもちゃたちの かなしい きもちが、

ものがたりの じくに なっていると おもうのですが、

ただ かなしいだけで おわらず、おもちゃの そんざいいぎを あらわす

かんどうてきな せりふが あって、

（ねたばれに なりそうなので、いわないで おきます）

さすが にんきさくひんだなあと おもいました。

Over the weekend, I went to see Toy Story 5 with my son.

I was at the level of, “Have I even properly watched the first one?”

but it was a really fun and touching movie.

I think the story is centered around the sad feelings of toys

that are no longer used by children.

But it doesn’t end as just a sad story.

There is a touching line that shows the meaning of a toy’s existence.

（I won’t say it because it might be a spoiler.）

It really made me think, “No wonder this series is so popular.”

私は、夏が好きです。

最近の夏は暑すぎて、辛いなあと思うことが多いです。

でも、お祭り、花火、プール、夏の空など、

夏にしかない楽しみがたくさんあるので、

夏はやっぱり特別な季節です。

Have you heard of “inochi no sentaku”?

命の洗濯という言葉を聞いたことがありますか？

溜まったストレスを洗い流すために、気持ちがいいこと、

楽しいことをして、心と体をリフレッシュすることです。

私はやっぱり銭湯や自然の中に行くことで、心が洗われる気がしますが、

皆さんにとっての「命の洗濯」は、何ですか？

いのちの せんたくという ことばを きいたことが ありますか？

たまった すとれすを あらいながすために、きもちが いいこと、

たのしいことを して、こころと からだを りふれっしゅする ことです。

わたしは やっぱり せんとうや しぜんの なかに いくことで、

こころが あらわれる きが しますが、

みなさんに とっての「いのちの せんたく」は、なんですか？

Have you ever heard the expression inochi no sentaku?

It means washing away built-up stress by doing things

that feel good or things that are fun, and refreshing

your mind and body.

For me, going to a public bath or spending time

in nature makes me feel refreshed deep inside,
