This episode features a conversation with Stephen Lisonbee, senior advisor to Gov. Cox for Rural Affairs and associate vice president at Southern Utah University (SUU) Office of Regional Services, and podcast host Pete Codella, Go Utah’s communications director.

From Oct. 11 to 13, Utah's rural leaders and decision-makers will convene on the campus of SUU for the 35th consecutive Utah Rural Summit, now known as the southern One Utah Summit. The summit occurs every fall in Cedar City and every spring in northern Utah. 

During the discussion, Lisonbee shares what it is like to be the point person responsible for implementing Gov. Cox’s increased importance on rural Utah. He also shares programming highlights for this year’s networking event, including a rundown of the agenda,  keynote speakers, and the entrepreneurial pitch, known as the State Bank Business Challenge, and why it is important for SUU to continue hosting the summit. Lisonbee also discusses plans for the summit's final day, known as Leadership Day, when leaders gather for training and to convene board and committee meetings to tend to important business.
