In Chapters 21 and 22 of The Lightning Thief, Percy braves the turbulent skies (and an elevator ride to the 600th floor) to return the Master Bolt to Zeus and finally meets his father, Poseidon. Both gods brush off the idea of Kronos returning, but Poseidon says he’s proud of Percy…and that his mother is safely home. Oh, and there’s a suspiciously familiar package waiting for them.

Leaving Sally to handle Gabe her own way, Percy returns to camp a hero, only to be betrayed by a friend. Luuuuuuke! Luke, why would you do this, whyyyyyy?

We made it home! But what’s next for our young hero? A certain peanut butter-loving half-brother, perhaps?

In Chapters 19 and 20 of The Lightning Thief, our Trio meets Hades, but the convo goes off the rails fast. Hades wants the helm and the Master Bolt. Percy insists he doesn’t have either… except, oh Styx, what’s that in his backpack? With a final look at his mom, Percy strikes a deal: he’ll return the helm if Hades keeps his word, then it’s time for a face-off with the God of War himself.

In Chapters 17 and 18 of The Lightning Thief, Percy and friends make it to Santa Monica, where he promptly takes a dip in the Pacific and receives “help” from Poseidon in the form of three pearls. After a crusty encounter, the Trio finds their way to DOA Recording Studios, earning them a one-way trip to Hades. Working together, they evade lost souls and three-headed pups on their quest to parley with the Lord of the Dead.

In Chapters 15 and 16 of The Lightning Thief, Percy and his friends make it to Denver, where they’re immediately put into the crosshairs of Ares, who presents them with a side quest: retrieve his shield from an abandoned water park, in return for info about Percy’s mom. The quest triggers a trap but the Trio makes it back and heads to Vegas, where they’re tempted by the Lotus Hotel Casino. There’s endless food, games, and…what do you mean there’s only one day left until the solstice?
