This episode features a conversation with several speakers at the One Utah Summit recently held on the Southern Utah University (SUU) campus in Cedar City. Listen as podcast host Pete Codella, Go Utah’s communications director, asks five thought leaders with expertise in various areas to share their unique knowledge and experiences.

First, we spoke with SUU President Mindy Benson about the university’s role in preparing a trained workforce and her experience teaching and leading at the university. Next, Gov. Cox’s Senior Advisor for Education, Brittney Cummins, joined Codella to discuss educating Utah’s youth. Joel Ferry, executive director of the Utah Department of Natural Resources, discussed his team’s work throughout the state.

Codella also spoke with Kevin Lewis, director of tourism for Greater Zion, about bringing the IRONMAN competition to Southern Utah. Finally, Brian Steed, executive director at the new Janet Quinney Lawson Institute for Land, Water, and Air at Utah State University, shared his thoughts on overcoming environmental challenges in the nation’s fastest-growing state.

The next One Utah Summit is scheduled for May 1-2, 2023, at the Davis Conference Center in Layton.
