The idea that you could make a difference in someone's life because you were able to help them learn something is absolutely a characteristic of having a winning mindset.

Here are some ways in which you can help others learn:

    • Understand the learner
      • Understand their learning styles and preferences
    • Keep it simple
    • Make it fun
    • Encourage questions
      • This is done by providing an environment that encourages questions
    • Provide feedback

  • Help Others Learn (Part 1)

This week we are venturing into a topic that not many would consider an attribute of having a winning mindset. But let's face it, helping others learn is arguably one of the most important things we can do.

There are so many people that watch us everyday, particularly our kids. We need to make sure we are teaching these folks good quality habits just like we were taught. Kevin and Jason believe there are a few reasons why helping others learns are important.

    • Personal Growth - When we teach others material, we first have to know the material inside and out. Diving deep into these topics actually helps make ourselves better in the process of helping others learn
    • Building Relationships - Teaching someone means you care about them.
    • Paying it Forward - Many of us have teachers, coaches, mentors or friends who made an impact on us as kids. It's time for us to do the same and pay it forward by helping others out now

Listen to these reasons and more on Monday's episode of "helping others learn."

  • Tenacity (Part 2)

In today's episode we are focusing on how to gain more tenacity in your life. On Monday, we defined what tenacity is and why it's important, but for today, here are some good ways to increase your tenacity.

First, find your "why." This will give you a reason to keep going and be more tenacious in your life. If you don't have that motivating factor, it's hard to have tenacity. Secondly, write your goals down and then put them up in an area of your home you frequently travel to such as a bathroom.  As an example, hang your goals up on your mirror that way you will see them every morning when you wake up. Last, get thicker skin. You're going to be told "no" a lot in your life. Don't let people stop you from achieving your dreams. Make that a motivating factor on how you gain more tenacity.

Other ways to increase tenacity are:

    • Practice positive self talk
    • Surround yourself with supported people
    • Embrace failure as a learning opportunity

    Thanks and enjoy!

  • Tenacity (Part 1)

This week we are venturing into a new topic and some will say it's the brother of persistence, which is what we spoke on last week. The topic this week is tenacity. Tenacity is that "it" factor. When you are evaluating people and everyone has roughly the same skill, how do you pick and choose the best candidate? Tenacity is the answer. Who is going to go the extra mile? Who is going to take you to the next level? Skill is great but will and determination are even better.

Tenacity is said to take a company from good to great or better to best. If you want to have a winning mindset, you must add tenacity to your tool box.

As mentioned above, tenacity is an attribute that can mean the difference between failure and success, and can take a team from “doing all right” to “thriving”. You must learn to increase your tenacity and keep pushing when times get tough.

    Thanks and enjoy!

  • Persistence (Part 2)

In today's episode we are focusing on how to gain more persistence in your life. Here are some tips in order for you to have more persistence.

    • Focus on the journey, not the outcome
      • If we always looked at the outcome, we would stop immediately. However, when we continue to look down the road and focus on the journey we will continue to persist until we find success.
      • Find your "why" When you do this, it demands persistence in order to achieve
      • Be an example for other people through persistence. If your kids are watching you, show them persistence when times get tough by not giving up and pressing on.
    • Additionally,
      • Know when things are not working and change directions.
        • This does not mean you have to give up. Try and different direction.
        • Stopping and starting over isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes our ideas aren't great.
