When you're both having a bad day at the same time, who picks who up? š¬
In this episode, I'm getting real with you guys about what happens when both partners are down in the dumps at the same time. Between my Instagram getting restricted, constant travel, and Kirsten dealing with pregnancy nausea, we found ourselves in that rare situation where neither of us had the energy to lift the other up.
I dive into the difference between masculine and feminine approaches to stress (my tendency to work more vs. taking a step back), and why it's impossible to be happy 100% of the time in any relationship. The real growth comes from learning how to coexist during those challenging moments when you're both at your worst.
So if you and your partner struggle when you're both having a bad day, I'm giving you the raw truth about communication, creating space, and approaching each other with love when you're both running on empty. Because sometimes the strongest relationships aren't built on constant happiness ā they're built on how you handle the moments when you're both grumpy AF. š
Top Quotes:
"The relationships that last are the ones that learn how to coexist in the moments where, because if I'm only happy 60% of the time and you're only happy 60% of the time, then what are we doing in that crossover?" (02:19)
"That's the difference between the masculine and the feminine. For me the masculine answer is work more work more work more. And the solution is like more feminine, like fucking relax, bro. Like take a fucking step back and just breathe." (06:59)
"If I'm really stressed out, I try my best to like, tell her 'I'm super fucking overwhelmed right now'... Because if you don't communicate, this is where I'm at right now. And then all of a sudden you just fucking snap over nothing, which can happen easily." (07:38) ___
