A Wild New Work

13. A More Natural Approach to Personal Branding

Listen Later

Does a mountain care about its “personal brand”? No. And just like the mountain, we are far more complex and interesting than can be summed up in a unique value proposition or online profile.
The concept of personal branding may have started as a helpful metaphor, but it’s metastasized into an empty and taxing exercise. In this episode, I explore a more fruitful, natural approach to the question of how to take up space in our professional lives.
Specifically, I share:
- A bit about the sign of Aries and The Emperor card in the Tarot
- What “personal branding” traditionally means
- What we can focus on instead: presence
- How to cultivate mountain-like presence and what that offers us in our worklives
This is for you if you’ve been feeling the pressure to be more externally appealing via your online presence or resume. Shifting the energy so that you’re cultivating presence instead will serve you in so many ways.
