STEVE BASKIS is a retired US Army veteran, who, in 2008, suffered severe wounds due to an improvised explosive device (IED), his injuries were extensive, and included loss of sight, multiple shrapnel injuries, along with nerve damage to his left arm. Thanks to his courageous and selfless service, he was immediately awarded the Purple Heart medal by the US President. 

Today, he's an established author, presenter, athlete, and motivator. He's won awards for his contributions to the blind community, he's medalled at the national level of both the summer, and winter Olympics, and he has his own non-profit organisation: Blind Endeavors.
